What can go wrong, is going wrong. The goal by Procter summed it up really - he messed up, missed the ball, it got deflected, came back to him and then in - this after Macho made some class saves. It's like United earlier this season.

Between today's match, my lack of sleep, exams next week, drama during my clinical placement at the hospital I'm just about ready to shoot myself......but first I'm going to shoot Jurgen Macho.

On to the Merseyside derby then...hopefully we can turn it around then.

All the United fans who disapeared earlier in the season (ie other than Maarten and a few others) feel free to continue to gloat, I expect no less - there's a guy in Meds 2006 who does the same - he's already emailed me, lol :)

Maybe L,Pool are waiting on an Owen hamstring to pop. That usually gets them cracking.

You are right about the gloating Man Utd fans. Aren't they sickening?
Maybe someone needs to remind them that they have had some slices of luck during their unbaten run. It's not like they are dazzling the Premiership wih enterprising football.

Maybe someone should start a post about referees and their influence. There are times I get the impression that certain players are afraid to tackle because they know the ref will reach for his pocket. The LPool, Arsenal, Blackburn and Chelsea midfielders, particularly, look scared to tackle to me.
Just a thought.

Yeah sh*t happens. Now we're all waiting for Arsenal to lose form badly.

Wouldn't do that. You as a medical student should now that most of the time it doesn't work out that well for yourself, both shooting yourself and somebody else.

Should be a great game indeed.

Hmmmm. I'm happy. Good of you to exclude my name there. ;) :D

Sunderland deserved the win and Liverpool didn't it's as simple as that. Sunderland fought like Lions where Liverpool was too tame and Owen had an OFFday obviously.
MANCHESTER UNITED NUMBER 1 !!:rockman:

This is by far the most pathetic thing to read on these forums for a while. Players scared to tackle because referees are sympathising with ManUtd and their players or so? That is one of the most creative suspiscion theories I've heard in a while. (EDIT: Now that I read back your post I might not have read it right the first time, apologies if so).

I also don't think we've been lucky. Our defence is just solid at the moment while Ruud is in great shape and form. We deserved victories over Liverpool, Arsenal and espescially Deportivo. Luck is a factor you can control if you keep trying hard. Do that and things will eventually go your way.

Also we're not gloating, well not all of us (monkee and me come to mind :D.) You know how I respected Arsenal previous to the ManUtd game. You said if I recall correctly "you're a decent lad" because I feared Arsenal and was realistic about our chances. Arsenal played crap against us and still don't play the way they did earlier in the season. We won that game, and important ones after that. Your Arsenal starts to slip up, while ManUtd are coming back from "Officially writing ManUtd off" to major rivals again. We're in good form, may we be happy please?

I am not saying Man Utd didn't deserve the wins. Far from it.
I am saying that they are not playing as well as some seem to suggest, just as I am saying Arsenal is not in a slump.

As for that conspiracy theory (my term), it's not as far flung as common sense would tell you or me.
I am pretty darn certain Vieria is one of the cleanest players in the game, in fact I think any person with objectivity will tell you that under Wenger you'd be hard pressed to call this team a dirty team. Somehow Arsenal has one of the worst disciplinary records in recent memory.

Listen, this is no accident. I don't waste time glorifying Arsenal, in fact, Arsenal fans are the most subtle fans on this board. They rarely post a result thread, but something is amiss here. The reason I brought it up is because I read Riley (thats a basketball coach) complaining about officials targeting his players and it's possible.

I can't think of a better game to illustrate it than the Utd game. Had Vieria committed the tackles Neville did, he would have been booked early. That's not saying he favoured Neville, I think it says more that a big player (Vieria must be well over 6ft) always seem to get calls against them.

Mind you, if anyone responds to this, don't bother with the sour grapes theory, I am just offering a comment for discussion.

Perhaps that would have been possible. Personally I really like Vieira and I'm a fan of him. But he has got this bad boy name, and and don't think he has got it for nothing, it didn't come out of the blue. Something like that grows. He now has the name of being a hard player and maybe referees are looking more to his tackles then for instance Phil Neville, who hasn't got that "hard man" tag on him.

However I think ManUtd has it's fair share of that as well. We've got a player named Roy Keane who has been branded a disgrace for the sport. Personally I find that pathetic. We've had David Beckham who has been branded a dirty player after the WC '98 red card and the WC for clubs in 2000.

That's exactly the point. Those players aren't dirty players, but yet I think Beckham has almost a half-dozen yellow cards, and if Keane taps you from behind well he's gone.
Today Ledley King doesn't even get a talking to for a dangerous tackle.
These refs sould ref the game and not the history.

This is still a LPool thread so maybe their fans can explain why their central defender Hyppia, who is as tough as nails, has not got a card this season.

The game once again showed what was wrong at Liverpool. Their finishing.

Their forwards couldn't score in a brothel. They created many chances but missed them all bar one. Baros missed a couple before finally scoring, after McCann had missed a penalty and opened the scoring earlier with a delicate chip.

Rather than going for the jugular, Houllier brought on Diao who is a more defensive player and Murphy instantaneously looked less dangerous. Owen was anonymous and it was almost laughable when Michael Proctor scored his first Premiership goal in his career.

Why Igor Biscan started the match, I have no idea. He should have been sold ages ago.

Although I'm not a fan of Liverpool, I'd like to see them haul themselves back into contention, just to make the title race more interesting. Liverpool fans needn't fear really - us United fans have experienced this earlier in the season and all that is needed is a little bit of luck, like the sort we have been getting recently. Liverpool are too good a side to be losing for so long, and I have a feeling that they will soon hit form. The Merseyside derby should be awesome - Rooney vs. Owen.

Reading through this post I'm thinking "Holy sh*t! I'm actually saying nice things about Liverpool!!!! I need to see a doctor!":D

i am not worried despite our bollocks form , i think we may need to invest though in a new wide player in the summer but thats for debate ... the everton game is looking like the biggest merseyside derby in years ...
The best one of recent history was the 4-3 win when Garry Mac nailed a free kick in the 4th minute of stoppage time ! !

Liverpool plays to many Gerrard to Owen long through balls, every club knows that now. They should change their strategy. Hamman is the only consistent player now.

Liverpool were beat by sunderland's passion really ...
they came at em and kept putting em under pressure and finally got their reward ... it was nice to see that it was a Sunderland born player who grabbed the headline.

Anyway Owen was on an off day, Diouf was a waste of space, and as Andy Gray (best foory pundit ever) was saying ...
LPool were playing great thanks to Murphy in the center of midfiled, he was dictating the game .... and then Houllier goes and puts him on the left and we didn't see him again the whole game :kader:
Gerrard was poor though, I'm worried coz I love that player. He was captain maybe it froze him a little, but he was very much below par.
