I love the Super Bowl

About to watch it

This thread is for international and occasional viewers who don't really know the game - keep all the complicated shit for the NFL thread

Supporting Carolina, of course

Anyone want to tell me some things to watch out for?

Back in Europe this year so I'll be watching shitty BBC coverage :(

They did a pre-game show where they brought a bunch of people who don't know anythiong and usually commentate soccer to tell the regular broadcasters that they're wrong.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of either team although I guess I'd rather see Newton and Kuechly rewarded with a Superbowl than Manning.

Von Miller is my favorite player on the field, though, so I'm glad he's already having a huge impact.

Broncos force 4th down only to lose it on a taunting penalty. Would be funny if they score on Talib now, too.

There seems to be a huge difference in quality between the two teams so far. Is it just big game nerves from Carolina, or are they just out of their league?

Carolina are actually the favorites. Broncos' QB had one of the worst seasons a Superbowl QB has ever had and are mostly here due to their defense, whereas Carolina just lost one game and had a great offense AND defense. They look quite lost, although that strip-sack makes things look much worse sicne Denver have not done much beyond that stalled opening drive.

The shot of Newton closing his eyes before his first snap and taking a deep breath tells me it's nerves.

That seemed like such a classic touchdown and maybe that will settle the nerves?

Edit: oh I just assumed Denver were favorites just due to super bowl pedigree, but yeah I watched them two years ago and they were demolished - have they made many upgrades?

I dunno much bout their personnel. Julius Thomas is gone but I think Ware is a new addition that wasn't with then last time. It's really different though because then they were an offensive juggernaut and now they're led by defense.

Turning into a really good game. After Carolina hold off Denver brilliantly to keep to just a field goal, a nearly superb move turns into a second turn over. I hope it stays close into half time

Disappointing game, I must say. Nothing noteworthy from either offense; only bright spot was Von Miller.

I'm not sure who I hate more, Manning or Von Miller.

Either way the way this played out made me even more upset the Pats lost to the Broncos. A repeat would have been so sweet...
