Sadly, there is no way.
There are many ways to decrease the game speed. They mostly involve editing the db tables: players, team traits, and team tactics. Change all players' workrates to low attack, and all teams' buildup speed to under 30 or even under 20, as two examples.

And of course the easiest fix is to lower speed and accel sliders, mine are in the mid-40s.

Yeah but there are no way to change a player's inertia.

His main issue is with the "fast and furious" game play. That's what I responded to. Slow the game down to realistic levels, where you don't always have to respond with split-second reflexes, and the inertia essentially becomes a non-issue.

I wish there was a way to adjust a player's inertia. You use to be able to do that through ini patch.

Now my CPU opponents play so slow, and are so complacent, I have had to raise game difficulty from Pro to Legendary just to get a challenge from the CPU. I've even had to raise CPU Speed and Accel sliders higher than mine for the lower tier teams.

This is not my ideal game setup, this is how I test what the game will allow us to edit. Apparently it is possible to edit CPU speed/mentality to the point of it being too slow and too complacent. Concerns about inertia are a non-issue at that point, that's what I was saying in my last post.

I noticed how easy it is after post-patch. Try backing up your game and go back to the pre-patch. The game is more difficult but then all defenders becomes too overpowered. Post-patch fixes up inertia a bit too much to the point that the whole game speed becomes faster.

I think this game has these problems:

I think "locale.ini file" editors should focus on that areas for real life football simulation if it's possible to edit of course.

are there any other possible settings than loose net? seems a bit too loose for me though default is obv too tight.

I tried to find a fix for it but it's hardcoded in the game.

I think it would be interesting to find out between us all the exact setting which makes players fall over easier, even with the smallest push. With that we can all use it to have fouls in all our GP patches. I noticed Fidel had achieved it although I am pretty certain that is because he changed the DB setting for Balance for all the players.

Sure Paul, it's days that I and my friends are working on, as soon as we have satisfactory results you'll be the first to know it! ;)

The problem this year is the referees, they should whistle more, the classic Foul Stricness strings etc. do not work!

I've noticed that many times it's not enough to replace the local file, but you have to do some kind of "cleansing" of the game, it does not make any changes!

In fact, the same local file with db cold open mod by Fidel, to me brings lots of foul to my other friends no.

Fifa is a rebus ....

i play fifa pretty much only because of career so i never really got into using edited dbs. didnt use fidels edited db in 16 and was able to get a fair amount of fouls by editing .inis so which is why im hoping for 18 aswell. havent been lucky so far though.

Number of fouls actually depends a lot on the teams/leagues you play against. There are 4-5 levels of cheat boosts in the game programming. By default, some teams are boosted much higher than others, and those high-boost teams will play with much more aggression because of it -- i.e. will cheat: will easily push you off the ball, will get every rebound, etc. That higher CPU aggression will lead to more CPU fouls when playing against those teams, if you think that's a worthwhile trade-off. I personally don't.

Example: In FIFA 17, Celtic by default plays at boost level 2-3 for most of the game. Liverpool plays at boost level 3-4. In fact, most English 1-4 leagues play at boost level 2-4. Whereas many of the Japan, Korea, and Central/South American teams have zero boost cheats. The 0 boost teams play a passive game (balanced, fair and even) from start to finish. Those are the teams I select to play against when I set up my tournaments as I absolutely hate the cheat boosts in this game, it's the game's biggest flaw by far. No I don't get a lot of fouls, but I always have great games.
