Anyone who is a citizen of the country they live in should be allowed to play for that country if they want. Why does it matter where they were originally from or their ancestry. If someone who plays in Holland is 1/16th Nigerian, why the **** does it matter??? Stupid ****s. By the way whoever wanted to mention France 98 for the US-why don't we mention USA 94-were France even there...hmm? Teams can get better so basing your opinion of the US team on France 98 is stupid-it was Steve Sampson's fault.

Didn't Suriname gain its independence in 1975? how old is Kluivert? even if he wasn't born under Dutch rule, the people there speak the languange and have dutch customs, so that makes a person a DUTCH!.
But anyways, this will be my last reply to this person, I guess there's a failure in the IVY Colleges when it comes to the definition of the word "nationality". shame on them! they're making a big mistake, we, at the fifa2000 forum got an example of it.

I believe that just because you happen to be born in a specific place, that doesn't make you English or Dutch or whatever. For instance I have many Persian friends. They were born here but do they consider themselves to be American, no. They consider themselves to be pure Iranian because that is where their roots come from. While someone of african decent may be born in a country like France or Holland, I will never consider them too actually be French or Dutch because they are African! I mean come on if a black person came up to you and said they were scandinavian, you would be like what the hell? Any black who chooses to play for a non african country unless they are perhaps from U.S. or Trinidad and Tobago, etc..is a sell out. They must have no pride at all in being black or in their african heritage.

P.S. I have tremendous respect for George Weah who played for his true country and people,liberia. People like Desailly and Thurame who play purely for money, fame and trophy's are a disgrace to africans.

Why are we mentioning France 98??? That was two years ago. The US team has changed! They are much better! France wasn't even at USA '94 and they won the whole ****ing thing in 98. They can get better, why not the US-ignorant ****ing euros when it comes to knowing US soccer. You guys rarely play any friendlies against the US, why don't they play any, if they are so ****ing good they should kill the US right?

I agree with you that it is somewhat distasteful to have players trying to find national teams to play for. But, I think you take your argument too far. Loads of black players in the U.K., France, and Holland are the second, third, or fourth generation of there family to have lived there. What you advocate is just as bad as what you are arguing against-- a player born in Suriname and raised in Amsterdam who plays for Holland is no worse (and, in fact is better) than that same player returning to Suriname to claim a spot on a team he has no connection with.

Hey Ruben, then according to that theory, ALL players in your uruguayan national team and ALL the players in the other south american countries are stupid because even though their ancestors have been living there for centuries are of SPANISH ROOTS. Therefore, according to ASSiuss theory, the only people who should play for the national teams in south america are of the native american decendency (not to say "indians").
