...I'm going to end this discussion right now, I don't see a way you can argue with this... to the retarded conservative bunch of the forum that claim that life should take its own time and she should only die when it's her time... guess what? she would have been buried 15 years ago or probably more if it wasn't for the machine that keeps her body running. Now anyone with half a brain cell can't consider that to be alive and if doctors considered that to be alive hospitals would be way way way more packed. Hell, maybe they should start plugging in 90 year olds that die of age to the machine and keep them connected till their skin starts melting?

I completely agree , I'm suprised she was allowed to be fed in the first place , to me it was a case of a right to live rather than right to die , thousands of people die everyday of starvation while a women who can't think has been fed for 15 years. Its sad the way she died being used for political gain by people who never knew her , I don't think you can get much lower than using a brain dead woman , they are the ones who really deserve to die

Im not sure if you actually looked at what this was, but this could be the most haniously unfunny sh*t ive ever seen; its about as tasteful as a gas chamber gag in a synagoge. How people could get such yuks out of it sickens me. Reminds me of about 5-10 years ago when JFK jr's plane crashed off Martha's Vineyard. Peter Jennings was on tv, getting these random phone reports, and some dude calls in and goes "Hey, did you know howard stern has a big dick?" Im pretty sure the voice was that unbrowed babababoey flamer. Never saw stern the same way since

Schiavo's parents are jerks: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/kgtv/20050329/lo_wkmg/2648050

If you expressed your support to Terri Schiavo and her parents fight to keep her alive, you may begin to receive a steady stream of solicitations, according to a Local 6 News report.

Terri Schiavo's parents have agreed to sell their list of supporters to a direct-mailing firm, Local 6 News reported.

The company, "Response Unlimited" pays about $150 a month for 6,000 names and $500 a month for 6,000 e-mail addresses.

A spokesperson for the Schindlers confirmed that they had agreed to sell the information, but won't say for how much.

its a few days old but hasnt been posted yet

Yah, the name's weireness was brought home to me when one of those faux-preacher bastards they trolled out there to lecture from a moral high ground that didnt exist said something like:

"The Schindlers feel what is happening to Terri is a new age holocaust" :read:

And if that list thing is true, wow. Honestly, i hope its true and all the fools who believed their put-on, bleeding heart cries for sympathy and the american public to back them can see how foolish they were to let the media wind them up.

And now, just as tragically, there is this (I wish it were a sick April Fools, but i dont think the BBC plays them :( )

Poor old man. Its hard for me to see, because I recall how full of life he was only a decade ago, and now, this. But lets hope he survives, steps down, and lives out his days in peace. Its brave, but he has got to end his reign.

Dude thats a little harsh man. But BlueBalla is right. He isnt doing the catholic faith any favours. They might say that this whole fiasco is helping to unite them but it seems to me to be just like the Terri Schiavo media circus. He should have graciously stepped down when his health started failing. It shouldnt have come to this :nape:

TERRI Schiavo's husband and her parents were making plans for separate memorial services, as the division over her fate endured beyond her death.

The brain-damaged Florida woman died on Friday, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed under order from a state court.
It took another court order to rule that as her legal guardian, husband Michael Schiavo, could cremate her, followed by burial of the ashes in Pennsylvania.

Parents Bob and Mary Schindler wanted to bury her in Florida. They plan a memorial service in Florida next week.

---------------

To me, they killed her. "They" includes federal judges and her husband. How could they just take away her feeding-tube and give her a slow-death? They kept watching her die of hunger. tsk tsk.
And they call it mercy?

I could not follow the whole case. Can someone please tell me what was the logic which stopped those judges to intervene?

Let's say it really is wasteful. But we still can not murder those who are "burden on society". If we follow this logic then all mentally challenged people should be killed.
Actually, someone did follow this logic. The logic of purging the society of such burdens. Hitler murdered not just the minorities, but mentally sick people as well. To him, they deserved to die.

Dude do you actually know what a "permanently vegetative" state is? It basically means that she had absolutely no conciousness. So if you believe in the spirit & all her damn soul was gone years ago. What was left was a shell, a living corpse. Do you call that life? Terri Schiavo was beyond "mentally sick"m, she was mentally DEAD. Get it now aftab?

What people seem to forget is that it's not murder. Without a feeding tube she would have died 15 years ago. She is already pretty much dead. The only reason why she isn't is because her bodily functions are (were) being kept "up to date" by machines.

RIP. Too bad it had to come to this, the whole media/goverment intervention thing was just uncalled for.

I know whats 'Persistant Vegatative State' is! Its like being the living dead. Not being able to do anything and being kept alive artificially.

I don't know why it was time to kill her. She had been in similar situation for 15 years. Suddenly it dawned on some liberals like her husband that it's time for her to die. Wow.

How long did it take the courts to decide about it?

Even if she deserved to die, wasn't there any better method than starving? Is this what we call a "dignified" death?

Her husband had called for the thing to be removed for years and years. It's just recently that it's popped up in the media and gotten more attention.

What did you want them to do, get the firing squad? the feeding tubes were keeping her alive so that's what they took away.

Haha you're a bunch of contradictions, 1st you say she's the living dead, then you say why kill her. Anyway her husband wanted to pull the plug way back then when the Docs confirmed that she wouldnt be coming out of it(happens all the time, a similar situation happened to my friends mom). However the parents objected & took the matter to the courts where it has been drifting all the while. Once they even took the tube out & put it back in when the appeal fell through. So get your facts right 1st k. As far as a dignified death is concerned, America does not have legislation on euthansia, unlike holland, so there was no other way.

i'd just reviewed this case again:

This is not a issue about killing disabled people, it is an issue about euthanasia. Joe Ford or Eleanor Smith weren't living off a feeding tube to be kept alive, but Terri Schiavo was. Like PhiLLer mentioned, she would have been dead 15 years ago if it wasn't for that feeding tube. DNR or Do Not Ressucitate is a right given to every individual and there is nobody who can take it away. It is a form of passive euthanasia and passive euthanasia is absolutely legal. If for example something was to happen to me today and I ended up in the hospital, than I could sign the DNR form saying do not keep me alive by artificial means. And if my injury was so severe that I couldn't make decisions for myself, then my family has the right to take that decision for me. (NOTE: this is only true in cases when your life HAS to be prolonged by artificial means or you'll die naturally)

Every individual has a right to die by natural means, why would you make their suffering more miserable by prolonging their life span and detoreating their quality of life, when they can die peacefully surrounded by their loved ones with dignity? I think it's morally wrong to prolong someone's suffering by forcing them to live off artificial means. If for example, something like that would happen to you, what would you choose? Death with dignity surrounded by loved ones without suffering or a death after a prolonged life full of suffering, without dignity, being a burden to your loved ones, alone?

Yeah thats how i & probably many others think too. But there are many, many others who think otherwise. Be it due to religious doctrine or otherwise, these people have blown up such issues out of proportion. Had the families not differed in view in the 1st place, this whole issue would have never occured
