Koeman said today that with this quality, 9 points should be enough for the leaguetitle this season and he allso said that they won't give this away anymore :D
I hope that they will be better in the CL but you never can tell tho...
De ArenA has more atmosphere than a few years back so you really should visit a match if you can :)

Cheers

Well if you read correctly his agent says that he will stay untill 2006 and that's good enough for me, let's see what happens first eh..

His agent:
We are not prepared to extend beyond 2006. Whatever happens he will not stay at Ajax after that.

"By then he will have been at Ajax for five years and that is long enough."

And if he wants to go it's a loss to Ajax but so was the departial of Chivu, v.d. Meijde etc so I'm confident that Ajax will surface again without these players. Ajax has a reputation for their youth footballclinic and a lot of players are ready to make the move to the 1st team, who knows maybe a new van Basten is in the making or a new Bergkamp ;)

Here's a report for people who haven't seen the match ;)

Good afternoon for Ajax

Amsterdam, March 14, 2004
Even before Ajax began their home match against Roda JC, the afternoon had begun well. PSV lost to Feyenoord and if Ajax won, the margin between the two title contenders would be nine points with only nine matches left to play. Ajax won 4-2 and won more than just three points.

Of course, the three points that Ajax gained for the 4-2 victory were more than welcome. But also Rafael van der Vaart's performance, who dished out clever passes, and the return of thoroughbreads Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Steven Pienaar were impressive. The Swede and the South-African came on in the 66th minute and justified the call for them in the short time they were on the pitch. Ibrahimovic was out since the winter break with a groin injury and Pienaar's nerve injury sidelined him for five months. The match also marked the return of Bogdan Lobont, who after a back injury took over as first goalkeeper from Maarten Stekelenburg.

Nicolae Mitea scored the first goal for Ajax

For weeks it was said that Ajax needed the moves and the goals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to be succesful. But the hastily acquired Yannis Anastasiou showed against his former club that he will not be relegated to the roll of second striker without a fight. The Greek scored twice against Roda JC.

Bogdan Lobont was Ajax's first goalkeeper again

After Nicolae Mitea put Ajax in the lead after 26 minutes, Anastasiou doubled the margin when he received a sublime back-heel pass from Rafael van der Vaart and calmly finished. When Roda JC through Iwan Redan - Anastasiou's successor in Kerkrade - got one back right before halftime, the striker headed in a free kick by Van der Vaart seconds before the end of the half: 3-1. ,,Yannis has done very well", coach Ronald Koeman said. ,,I don't know yet if I am going to start with Ibrahimovic next week or if I'll stick with Anastasiou. Yannis scored twice, at important moments. I did not have to substitute him."

Rafael van der Vaart's passing was at times brilliant

But the Ajax boss did it anyway. It was not his first substitution, because Wesley Sneijder replaced Zdenek Grygera after halftime, to make better use of the space that Roda left on Ajax's right flank.
Immediately after halftime Roda JC scored again, again from a corner kick: 3-2. And the visitors had an excellent chance to equalise when a wide-open Senden headed the ball to the wrong side of the post.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was hungry for a goal in his return

Twenty minutes after the 3-2, Koeman brought on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Steven Pienaar, to the delight of the fans. With Ibrahimovic, the game flowed even more toward the Roda goal. The touches between the Swede and Pienaar were a joy to behold.

Steven Pienaar scored in his first match back after five months

With a flair for the dramatic, both returnees then put the match on ice. The cross came from Ibrahimovic and Pienaar slid it in the goal: 4-2. ,,We booked a good victory and three players have returned from serious injuries. That is great. We should be able to keep PSV at this distance'', said Koeman.

Zlatan already said that he wanted out of Ajax for a bigger club, but he has been linked with Juventus, hope not of course.

I would like to see him in England, i think in that kind of league he will have more success than may be in Italy

I agree, going to Italy will be a big mistake for his career, he's better of in the EPL :)
Personally I hope he stays for a few more seasons, Ajax will do everything in their power to make that happen so we'll see...

I think they should also kept Van Der Vaart, he too good for leaving early, but for the future of ajax they should keep this group now because they have a great future together.

Zlatan is back and how... He played so good :) He is way to good for the silly Dutch defenders. I love this player and thats why I always have the swedish flag as avantar. I hope he wont leave ajax this season.

Ajax is now 9 points away from PSV so I guess it wont be very hard for us now. Maybe AZ or Feyenoord could go for the second place now.

I always say: 14(Johan Cruijff) + 9(Marco van Basten) = 23(Rafael van der Vaart)

So in other words yes he will become Cruijff/van Basten combination but only when he stays here for another 2 or 3 years to fully grow up.

Yup I agree, it would be a mistake to leave Ajax now, especially since his season isn't very good and he was off the pitch a lot due to injuries. He must develop more as a player for 1 season at least and he must be able to play every game!!

But it would be difficult to keep him, a lot of big teams want him and with the problems that he and koeman have, i don't know if ajax may reject a really good offer... maybe about 15 millions, that's what i think he's worth.

Well if he DOES go Ajax will get a LOT of money for him so they can train more youth and buy other great names and if they are not big yet then they will be when they play for Ajax.
Look Christian Chivu, Trabelsi, Maxwell.. they were not very well known before they played for Ajax and look at them now ;)
And if Zlatan decides to leave it's again money in the bank, don't get me wrong here guys I rather see them both stay but I think that's an Utopia :(

The problem is that when all of those players becomes great, they leave, so it is difficult for Ajax to be what they were in Europe with players without experience. That's what bothers me.

only 15 million? my god this man is the greatest talent walking around on the planet. I'd rather say 30 million...

30 million would be too much..... how many teams other than "that team full of quality players that don't get much playing time" can afford to pay this much. Although I must agree that VDV is one heck of a player. I'd say it'll probably be around 15 to 20 million.:)

Not even Ronaldinho was that expensive.... i mean, the guy is as good as it gets, but that too much.
