Well all is not lost. Too early in the season to really care much about it point wise. However performance wise a lot is to be disired.

My view and possible cure for Arsenal's inability to beat teams who defend deep and in numbers, plus a few views on the game-

Firstly I can't remember a single time apart from a Touré run to the wing where our wingers ran down the wing and cut in the bi-line. We need to do that more. Our goal against Chelsea in Charity Shield? Lauren on the bi-line passing it in the middle. We have to do that against teams who play with a deep defense. secondly, Henry should stop picking the ball up in midfield and doing that silly thing where he runs on the spot and then psses it or plays past one player, the move always break down. He needs to stick around the box, picking up the ball, making one-twos with someone like Hleb and running forward instead of satying still. Also the need for a midfielder who is willing to have a pop from 25 yards is needed badly. It was the same problem against Man Utd in the F.A. Cup. No midfielder wanted to shoot.

Now defensively Senderos had a walk in the park first half agaisnt Crespo, and agaisnt Drogba when the ball was on the floor I was confident he would get it, which I was kinda right about. But in the air Drogba seems to be better. But it says a lot about Touré's performance when he out-headered someone 3 or 4 inches taller than him. So get Senderos pumped up before each game, getting to smack his head into a wall and get him to fear nothing.

in the matches of the new season from Arsenal, i got to say, Hleb is an excellent signing. he makes Arsenal's game flow in the offense. Arsenal's game is full of flow anyway, but its just alot of passing, and very little shooting. As Dreath said, noone f*cking shoots for you, its like they want to carry the ball into the goal. for me it was the most noticable in both Chelsea games, they pass it quickly, going forward, you think this is going to be a great chance, but BAM it all stops at the penalty box, still just passing, and eventually the Chelsea defence cleared it.
and about Senderos, i dont know if you can put much faith in the guy, he just seems so nervous. maybe its just in the air, because he just couldnt get a header right today (atleast the second half, didnt catch the first).

I realize that it won't be reversed unless he does something unthinkable, but I believe Henry should either hand in his captaincy arm-band or be stripped of it. He doesn't have it in him to be more selfless towards his teammates and give them the encouragement that is expected from a leader. He's just not a tenacious competitor that you can look to for guidance when things go terribly wrong, man. He's vocal, passionate and expressive towards his teammates when he scores a goal, when a play breaks up, or God forbid someone forgets to pass the ball to 'em, but why not when we're not coasting to an easy win and are at our wits-end offensively against a more than a capable club like CHELSEA?

T--O--U--R--E=BEAST!

I hope Arsene isn't now having doubts about Senderos and considering Cygan and Campbell (when he decides to return) over him. It's either a three man defence with T--O--U--R--E at the helm, or he and Senderos sharing the duties, man. We can't now bail on the poor bastard and bury 'em on the bench. He's gotta play through this.

Growing pains, man. I've been calling for the youngsters to be infused into the starting eleven for the longest time now. These glitches, although costly, are part and parcel of their development.

Alrighty then, Quincy, Hoyte and Reyes in the lineup on Wednesday hopefully.

Agreed about playing Phillipe and Kolo they are fantastic Sol is good but he has been out a long time so you can put him back without a fight for position !!!

Hleb is also a good player i see him been a big player for us this year !! :)

Yeah, Hleb is an absolute starter now. A #10 in the sense of Bergkamp, but with more pace and aggression. The way he's fit in and taken command of our midfield attack is astounding, man.

hehe, wonder what Vince will say now, about Hleb. He didn't have much confidence in him at the start.

I never doubted his talent, I said he tends to not show up when it matters, he yet has to prove me wrong on that. The pressure on him with a bunch of class players surrounding him is a lot lower now, this helps him a lot.

Flamini and Gilberto would offer NOTHING creative in the middle.

It's not supposed to. It gives us a very secure defense, giving Reyes, Hleb, Henry and van Persie the opportunity to attack without as much fear of counterattacks. Good tactic against small clubs. Plus Flamini wants to be the next Vieira? So let him prove it.

And having Vieira and Gilberto did? Cesc is the most creative midfielder we have have/had Vieira isnt much better than the 2 mentioned creativity wise

Vieira made runs into the box, connected play superbly and is nothing like Mathieu. As much as I like him, he can absolutely not replace what Vieira brought for us. Do you see Flamini or Gilberto at the end of a superb Arsenal move?

No, because they are there to tackle, tackle, tackle. We need a creative midfielder to work with a super-defensive one.
