Chivu has stated he can't wait to play Fiorentina so I guess he is back on the line up (H) and I beleive Cassano and Totti will be playing so I am not that worried.

i don't think dellas ever starts. he certainly didn't under capello last season, but he had a brilliant euro 2004 so he deserves to be picked more.

Mexes earns temporary reprieve Friday 10 September, 2004
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Philippe Mexes will be able to face Fiorentina this Sunday after his six-week ban was suspended, while Como are readmitted into Serie C1.

Roma defender Mexes had been ruled out of all club competition for six weeks after FIFA arbitration ruled that he signed for the Giallorossi while still contractually obliged to Auxerre.

He immediately launched an appeal and the TAS – Tribunal of Arbitration for Sport – this evening agreed to postpone the suspension until the appeal can be heard. The ban was originally set to begin on September 12.

Meanwhile, the Napoli situation may have been resolved, but it’s still chaos in Serie C1.

Como have won their appeal to the State Committee, overturning the decision of the TAR tribunal that had put them out of professional football due to their uncertain financial status.

This means that the FIGC must readmit Como to Serie C1, a decision that had also been taken by the CONI arbitration committee last month. In the same hearing, Viterbo have been readmitted to Serie C2.

no doubt we have a solid squad, when everyone is healthy and suspensions are finished we are scudetto contenders

and i like to move to appeal and allow mexes to play the first match, helps us for one week

funny how almost the same thing(well sorta) has happened in the nfl with my team the vikes, onterrio smith was suspended 4 games for abusing the nfl's drug policy, the vikes appealed and the appeal will be heard after week 1, allowing him to play for the injured michael bennett

wats the difference if his ban starts next week and its still 6 weeks, or worse is made even longer? i think if anything Roma shouldve been fined money instead of banning the player.

Voeller And Cassano Clear Things Up
9/13/2004 3:05:00 PM
Following the umpteenth 'cassanata' during Sunday's match between Roma and Fiorentina, Rudi Voeller decided to have a one-on-one talk with Antonio Cassano.
The young prodigy was sent off during Sunday's Serie A match for a bad reaction on an opponent. This left new Roma coach Voeller to have a 20 minute talk with Cassano in order to clear things up so that certain situations do not re-occur in the future.

The Roma forward was sorry for letting his team down and acknowledged the mistake he made.

Frisk Decision A Dangerous Precedent-Wenger
9/17/2004 4:28:00 PM
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the Roma-Dynamo Kiev match should not have been suspended following the Aders Frisk incident.
“The decision to suspend the match has caused a serious precedent. A riot around the stadium could have occurred as a result of it,” he told Friday’s Evening Standard.

Wenger then recalled when the 1985 Champions Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool was not suspended, even though 39 fans had been killed as a result of riots erupted in the stands.

"For me it is difficult to understand because you play a European Cup final with 37 dead people but you cancel a game for a cut on the referee’s head," Wenger said.

The decision to suspend the match was made by Frisk himself, as he believed the security conditions necessary for the match to continue were not in place.
UEFA are expected to hand out their sentence on the incident next Tuesday.

Roma risk a huge home pitch ban, and possibly an exclusion from the European Cups.

Roma's Nightmare Continues As Totti Injured
9/17/2004 12:36:00 PM
Things are going from bad to worse for Roma, even if this might seem impossible in light of Wednesday’s events.
Francesco Totti is in serious doubt for Sunday’s important Messina road test after that he pulled a muscle in his right thigh.

With Cassano suspended, Voeller will probably decide to field the striking duo composed by Montella and Delvecchio.

New signing Mido is expected to start from the bench.

Wenger is absolutely right. I don't understand the need to suspend a game just because a missile happened to hit the ref.

Fine Roma, ban them from playing at the Olimpico - Do whatever...but that decision could have been made after the game.

Like Wenger said, the crowd was already agitated. It could have lead to much more serious consequences. Even a tiny cut to the head bleeds profusely. An object thrown from the stands just happened to hit him. Its not like a person in the stands was sitting with a rifle and aiming at Frisk's head.

Sh*t happens. Pig heads get throw - the game goes on. Cell phones are thrown the game goes on... Why ? because it didn't hit anyone. Here a lighter happens to hit a refs head and the game is just called off. A small lighter. They always have another official who can carry on if the referee is injured and thats what should have happened in this case.
