Im sticking to my guns, Martyn should stay in, he is a classy player...But Im afraid its time for Bevan to got...In his last 25ish one dayers, he has struck at about 60...Thats a poor strike rate when you consdier the rest of the batsmen in the side over the last 25 are at about 80+...Once he came in, the chances of us salvaging victory were gone...he can score at a run a ball all day...working the singles, but cant lift and hit out when he needs to....Bring in Katich (or even open with Langer and move Gilly down), but its time for Bevan to go...

Bah, Martyn gets 40 when the Aussies are winning and it is good and Bevan gets 40 when they are losing and it is time to go.

BAH!

Bevan should not get the poo treatment, he should be allowed to leave with honour and be forced into international retirement, He should not be dropped, he has been a great player. I do agree though, Katich has done enough to edge either Bevan or Martyn out, one or the either I do not mind, but if it has to Bevan, he should be allowed to go with dignity.

Yeah, but with Bevan at the crease, we were NEVER a chance...

Who has made moore one day runs in this series, Bevan or Martyn? id say itd be neck and neck...

Martyn stablised a team, which might have collapsed around him, and not gone on with the good start if he didnt...

Bevan came in, and didnt ever look like getting the total...

As for going out with dignity..If he wants to do that, he better go now, because he just isnt good enough to be there anymore, in the current One Day game...He wont retire tho, so he will be dropped sooner or later Im afraid...Welcome to Proffesionalism...

Doubt itll be Ponting or Katich...

Not sure who tho...

Martyn used to open for Australia A in their inaugural season (when he was also captain). So thats one option...Another would be Andy Symonds...

Should be interesting :)

Australia have one of the oldest ODI team in the world. If players arnt performing, it shouldnt be tolerated as their are 100s of ideal replacements gunning to be in the first XI. We need some youth, Brad Williams seems to have just started his career yet he is 29.

We do have some pretty good young players and I think we have a bright future. Look at the Australian A team there very young yet play well. Ponting wont open. Will be interesting to see what happends.

Next Match is: India v Zimbabwe tomorrow. Lets hope Zimbabwe can finally put in a good performance.

oh ho ho. nice win.

brilliant.

irfan pathan, take a bow. this guy sure has some promise.

michael bevan will silence all his detractors by taking australia to a win from a losing position in the finals. that is my prediction. let's just hope he doesn't get dropped before that!!

india do have the best batting line up in the world. and i don't know about whether they are the second best team in the world because south africa always seem to have that edge over them whenever they play each other.

but one thing's for sure: they will soon be right on top of the pile.

Well tomorrow Zimbabwe may have chance to show even some fight as India are playing w/o Agarkar,Sehwag,Tendulkar. We are getting in Rohan Gavaskar,Hemang Badani and Sanjay Bangar or may be Parthiv Patel to give some rest to Dravid from keeping.I personally think Dravid should be given some rest.Indian team has really exploited him.He has been made to wicket keeping, open w/o his wish.He is da guy who do things best for team.Tomorrow there are many players who can open with Ganguly like Rohan,Bangar (to give him some confidence).

And I already said that thing that India's tail CANT bat in pressure time.Thats a situation where India gets down.

It seems India can play very well against Australia and beat them at times but then lose to teams like New Zealand and South Africa so even if they do beat Australia in this ODI series I dont think you can label them number 1 and even if they did win the test series I dont think you could label them number 1 either.

nowhere have i written that india ARE no. 1.

we will be no. 1 in the near future.

and you might not like me saying that, but it is the truth.

I didnt say you did say India were number 1.

Im just saying that they are not number 1.

You dont know they will be number 1, anything can happen!

India 3/117 (26.1 overs)

Zimbabwe doing pretty good.

ya you're right. my bad. i'm sorry!

so you still think that bevan should be dropped obviously right??

why aren't you bringing up the topic after his indifferent performance against us when he couldnt take your team to victory?

come on man, argue with me a little!

yuvraj gone. 189/4 after 41.1 overs. zimbabwe doing a good job i think. i just put on the tv so i dont know how the pitch is playing.

beautiful delivery by ray price though.

actually don't know whether you can fault bevan or not.

it's just that the rest of the batsman got out.

and what a player our mr. dravid is.

i feel proud.

zimbabwe are fielding damn well i must say. i just saw 4 instances of great fielding. and dean jones informs us that they've been so good throughout.

if that's true then they deserve something out of this game for their effort in the field alone.

WBFC

Youth Team
zimbabwe are the best fielding team in the world. almost all of the team can throw over the stumps from the boundary and all of them are exceptional catchers. if their batting and bowling were as good as this, they would be causing more than a few problems for australia and india

I am interested in seeing Katich open. He has scored ING cup hundreds opening for NSW this year. He should bat well with Gilly, noting their time at WA together.

NEWS: The Zimbots ar edoing well. 15 overs, 60 odd runs for no wicket. Correction, one wicket really, Vermuelen went to hospital due to a short ball from the lively Pathan that went between grill and visor.

4/71 but really 5 down with the retire hurt....so they dont really have much chance in winning this one. Least there bowling and fielding improved now they just have to improve there batting.

What a fight back really by Zimbabwe.

Only losing by I think about 25 runs and they really had a chance if they had not been bowled out. Was a good close finish. Didnt like the tactics of stomach high full tosses that werent given no balls. Ervine and Ebrahim batted well and so did Price. Zimbabwe get there 1st point of the series.
