Senior Squad
You said it Saurabh - he's a child and let's leave it at that. Let's concentrate on the Indian team.

Well ur post was in reply to a very confident post about the Australians (not from me). It definitely implied that the Australians were taking the Indians lightly, and we didnt learn anything over the summer....Originally posted by man united forever
mate i wasn't referring to you or australians in general.
Australia deserve all the credit they get for the way they turned things around at the fag end of the tour, though let me say that i am proud of the way the indian team went there not to make up numbers, but to compete. For most of the tour, they did more than that - they beat Australia in a meaningful test in Australia(which hasn't happened for god knows how long) and showed that they can, with a bit of extra work, consistently compete with the very best in the business.
No doubt Australia have improved over the summer, but the meaning of the comment 'consistently compete' was taken slightly out of context. I said '...and can, with a bit of extra work, consistently compete with the very best....'.Originally posted by Alex
Australia have improved over the summer, something that Im afraid India didnt do...It started out promising for them, ended poorly...Which is why I disagree with ur last comment "consistently compete"...I dont think so...The test series things were never settled (selection wise for Aust), and the pitches were batting pitches the whole way through...But the one day series, when we started returning to form, u guys struggled...
Ahh...sorry, I thought you meant that India had put in the "extra work" and thats why they got those results...I understand what u were saying nowOriginally posted by man united forever

As far as Australia returning to form is concerned, that's an undeniable fact, though one of the factors(and a worrying one for Indian fans) was the lack of intensity of the Indian team in our last four matches, which perhaps suggested that they had had their fill of the tour. I am not for one moment putting that forward as the reason for Australia's victories in the latter part of the VB series. Hell in that form they'd probably beat anyone! But there was a marked difference in the Indian team that began the VB series and pushed Australia so close in the first three matches that they could have won all three instead of just the one, and the one that ended it, struggling against Zimbabwe at Perth.
Tiredness at the end of a long tour is something that happens to all teams, and at the end of the day, Australia showed greater endurance than us and are the better team for it. However, I am confident that over time, the younger players in the squad will be able to use this experience to steel themselves and go the full distance on long tours in the future. It's a part of cricket and it doesn't matter how much talent you have if you can't last 2 and a half months of international cricket.
Finally, let me explain that comment about the dog and the wise man. I think it may have been taken the wrong way. I was effectively telling the kid that he can 'bark' all he wants, but I'm not going to pay attention.
