The best player in the history of soccer

The Kop Kid

Senior Squad
Maradona. Quite simply a football god. Scored some of the best goals in the history of the game and could turn a team from 'also rans' into world beaters. People are saying Zidane and Cruijff, but the thing is, they played in teams which were also the best teams (Zidane Juve, Real Madrid and a star studded French team, Cruijff in probably the most complete Holland side ever). Maradona basically won the world cup for Argentina in a side which really wasn't as good in general as others in the comp. Also look at Napoli. When they won Serie A, they were basically an ordinary side with possibly one or two exceptions. Maradona joins, Napoli win, Maradona leaves, Napoli sink like a stone. No other player has had so profound an effect who I can think of. Zidane and even Johan have never been ablt to terrorise an entire team the way Diego did. A close second is the mighty Igor Biscan. :crazyboy:

Starting XI
Pele

Only player to have 3 world cups
Only player to have scored over 1300 goals
Only player to do all that and win 2 world club championships
scored 8 goals in one game once
Scored 2 in a WC final at the age of 17

Got hit and badly fouled by defenders every game because there were no such things as yellow or red cards...they even injured him for the 66 WC....had he been there.....who knows.

Theres only one "greatest"
Pele

I have heard many say this...

"Cruyff is the Prince.
Pele is the King.
Maradona is the God."

I have to say I agree with it.

You are totally right. But I still think Zidane is the best I've ever seen.

Im 15 and the best ive seen is thierry henry and zinedine zidane, but maybe pele and maradona where better i dont know
Most of the people here say that maradona is the best because they saw him play, but ther never saw pele. This is good to ask a 50 year old man who saw all the great players like cryuff, pele, garrincha etc

yeah you right. I say Maradona because i saw him play. From Pelé i only saw videos of some goals especially WC70 clips.

Eusebio was fantastic too. He had flair, technique, speed, shot accurancy, two feet ability, excellent heading, perfect set pieces taking. The perfect player, He was the better european ever. (H)

Eusebio said in an interview that for him the better was Di Stefano.
