I hope they do better than they did in the last series here. There are a few survivors from the last tour, but I'll be interested to see how Sehwag adjusts to the conditions here. And yes, Shane Bond will be a big threat to our side, but batsmen of the class of Tendulkar, Dravid and Ganguly should be able to handle him.

I wish I could go to see them play, but there are no games in Auckland or Hamilton until after I have to leave for.......India:D

Well today my school announced that wellington cricket are giving my school 40 free tickets and buss ride to the first day of the India-NZ test on the 12th. Except the school cricket teams get first choice and i woznt in the cricket team :(

So that leaves about 25 people open, wich is cool.

And its going to cricket in schooltime, so its awesome :D

3rd test Ashes

aussies inevitably on top again...lower order of aus frustrating england

enland's started their second innings almost 300 behind, late on the second day. i somehow don't see them coming back into this without a lot of rain. even if they get 500, it leaves us wit 200 to chase:D

yeah, good on the aussies. I just hope the poms realise that they have to let go of the Ashes, they can't keep acting like this and think that they are gonna win anythime soon. 8 times in a row now or something, get the damn things to their rightful home. England have to get over the fact that they are not even close to being a dominant force in cricket, why the hell to they have to toffee-nose over everyone else and think they own the damn game. its the same with football and rugby, they lost the advantage in these sports to other places long ago. obviously being from NZ I can't lavish too much praise upon the aussies, but this present team of the last few years etc. is gonna be remembered as one of the greats, just like the Windies teams of the 70's.

Great team INDEED !
but it makes me feel proud that in the whole cricketing world the only place they haven't been able to win a series is in India ! and i don't think they would be returning here soon

India tour of NZ

india lose zaheer khan and harbhajan for the 1st test.

Cricket World Cup 2003

First of all I am aware that there is a well established GENERAL cricket topic, so I appeal to the mods to allow this topic as it deals with specifically the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

Who will win?

Suprises?

Teams to do well?

Teams to do poorly?

I can see South Africa winning. There is experience, good bowling fielding and batting right down.

The Aussies........ have not had the best one-day form. As much as I hope for a '99 repeat performance, I can't see it........ The batting is lacking........ and there is no allrounder...... so the fifth bowler can get spanked a bit, and so can Brett Lee.

I reckon New Zealand and India can go far. Both have good teams...... with some good youngsters and wise heads........ New Zealand have a great captain I believe and a good "TEAM". India have of course Sachin, and the top order and the spinners.

I can't wait.:) ;)

Supermax is the most irrelevant piece of **** I have ever seen. It looks like backyard or gully cricket with all its screwed up rules, and gives no indication of true class of players whatsoever. That said, Tendulkar still managed to play a good innings in spite of the slogfest nature of this ridiculous game. Bring on the tests I say - that's where the real cricket is. Max is a complete bastardization of the game, and don't think for a minute that I am bitter - I couldn't care less about the actual result of that meaningless contest. I just see it as an attempt at injuring Indian pride by making our team play an alien game just a few days after landing in the bloomin' country. I hope India beat New Zealand convincingly in the first test, but being realistic, I think they will do well to not lose the first test and then, having found their feet in the country, stand a chance of winning the second test match. We seem to lose the first test of an away series a bit too often. Bowling first in Wellington will be ideal, with a good seaming wicket being planned. The team is going in with four seamers - Khan, Nehra, Agarkar and Bangar. Are you sure Harbhajan Singh won't be in the team for the test, Dhruv? What happened to him? I haven't heard any news.

COME ON INDIA!

yeah World Cup thread ill let go ;)

I disagree with you on the Australian thing.

At the end of the last australian summer, Australia were much better then South Africa, and New Zealand, they missed out on the final because of their complacency at the start of the season.

Australia are still favourites in my books, but in one day cricket, you never can tell who will win on any particular day, so when it comes to the final and semi's one match can easily go to a team in an upset victory.

South Africa will be strong, but Australia usually seem to have the wood over them

Sri Lanka are a little the opposite, not as strong, but Australia struggle when playing them

Pakistan, when they're hot they're hot, when they're not, they're not.

India struggle in bowling a little.

West Indies are still rebuilding a bit I think.

New Zealand are good, and pretty strong throughout, but not world cup winning material in my books.

Zimbabwe and England will not win, and the others are there for the numbers.

Australia's problem is the allrounder position in my books, but id consider playing another batsmen there. With Gilchrist in the team, he is basically an allrounder anyway, so playing another batsmen isnt losing anything. Australia have lots of batsmen who can bowl, and so could make up 10 overs somewhere.

Personally, im not sure if id choose Lee int he one day team. I think Lee is a test bowler. Id go for Bichel, he goes for heap less runs.

Id also run with Greg Blewett as an allrounder, IF Watson fails. Watson is going really well in domestic cricket, batting and bowling, but always struggles in international cricket. I think keep him in for the Australian Summer, but have blewett read to step in.

My Australian team would be:

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Martyn
Lehmann
Bevan
Watson/Blewett
Warne
Bichel
Gillespie
McGrath

other members of 15 man squad:
Maher, Langer and Lee

As long as Brett Lee isn't in the team, Australia have the World Cup won. I don't think he should even be in the test side, he is a complete waste.

Also, about the all-rounders, i'd say the great man Shane Warne is right up there, after recently making 50 against England. Damien Martyn is also a great bowler.
