Well we're nearly a season on from the fun and games of last summer and a lot of you thought that United fans relationship with Ronaldo would recover. Rumours are still swirling, the question has been asked and Ronaldo claims he's happy.
But as I said, the proof would be in his actions - so let's have a bit of a review of that shall we?
Well certainly for me I feel that his on field actions have proved that he simply believes he's above everyone.
From the manor of his goal celebrations - to the diving and throwing his arms about if someone has the temerity to tackle him. Recently his overall game seems to be more about flicks and tricks again than the end product. Of course moments of genius still come from him, but it is a very different Cristiano Ronaldo to the one who unquestionably was the best player in the world last season.
I still wouldn't be sorry to see him leave this summer - his antics are at times disgusting and sully the name of the club. It is a crying shame, because Cristiano is one of those players who simply has the gift of making a football do what he wants it to.
What has opened my eyes to how far backwards Cristiano has gone is Lionel Messi. Here is a phenomenally talented player who wastes no motion - he attacks and uses exactly the amount of skill he needs. You don't see him trying to humiliate players and showboat for the cameras - and you don't see him wandering around without the ball.
Last year I'd have told you that I would rather have Ronaldo than Messi - I think that's changed now. It appears to me Ronaldo is now putting the emphasis on making himself look good - rather than helping the team.
Of course, last night's goal was simply awesome - but there were still signs that he wasn't interested in getting his hands dirty and helping the team. The opposite of that is Wayne Rooney, who is both gifted and %100 committed to winning a game of football.
Here's a question: Would I prefer Rooney to Ronaldo? Yes. Because with Rooney you know he will sweat blood for your team - and still have the genius to win a match. Ronaldo has the genius, but where's the application.
Is it that his heart is in Madrid - Or is he simply now ego driven?
In any case, I'm not sure I want him in my team anymore, and I suspect a lot of United fans feel the same. Okay we can't get Messi, but a more direct (less talented perhaps) - team player I feel would be better than the sulking we've seen over the past months.
