The DaVinci Code - SPOILERS A-PLENTY!

Set to be released on 19th May 2006, it should be pretty good. I've read the book and it defenitely lends itself to a great movie, especially to a cast which includes Ron Howard as the director and Tom Hanks, Sir Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina and Audrey Tatou.

They've already got a trailer up. I haven't watched the trailer yet so I don't know if it's any good or if it's just the teaser trailer they tend to release a year before the movie.

Starting XI
Part of it is being filmed in Lincoln where i live. Lincoln cathedral is acting as a mock up for Westminster abbey.

I also hate Ron Howard, but somehow he fits in... The novel itself was very uncreative from a literary point of view.

Anyway, 'The DaVinci Code' was written on purpose to be transposed into a movie, so this should work.

Oh, and Audrey Tatou :rockman:

EDIT: Btw, I found the trailer hilarious, to say the least. The voice laying that 'What if the world's greatest works of art held a secret' speech... god... Ron Howard... :nape:

Paul Bettany is also part of the cast now as Hanks' assistant or sidekick or whatever.

this movie is going to be huge and I really dont understand you're hate for Ron Howard. he's made some great classics like Splash, Cocoon and Willow, and now lately he's been doing Oscar movies from Apollo 13 to A Beautiful Mind to Cinderella Man this year, but they do deserve its praise. what wrong with making great movies?

oh yeah, and Arrested Development (Y)(Y)(Y)

I'm not saying he sucks, he's just too damn conservative with the camera and always tries to put a triumphalist and epic feel to his movies to wave at the academy. His films tend to be boring as hell because of it. Maybe for the general american audience that's ok but we like our movies a bit more creative over here. His filming style is a bit like Clint Eastwood's but Eastwood's story telling style is much more refined and tends to be much more interesting ence better movies.

I dont know what you call "here" but Im not from the US and I love pretty much all Ron Howard's movies (I didn't like Ransom though).

and while I agree that american audiences love mainstream Hollywood movies like Howard's, his movies are also internationally loved, meaning that in your "here" they were probably loved too so your point is kind of wrong (:/)

just because you disagree with the book shouldn't mean that you're going to be automatically not entertained by the movie :(

I do not mind Ron Howard. This film looks ok, only, the trailer doesn't really say much at the moment, I didn't expect it to considering it will be released next year some time lol.

Yeah, but I'm sure there are alot of people to believe it to be absolutely true. Sorry but there's no way I could be entertained by something I disagree with so entirely.
