The England National team thread

I'm not keen on either of them , if you look at this season Pardew has been more successful why wasn't he considered? I think the next coach will last only 6 months before they realise , they have ****ed up , hopefully then we ewill get a coach worthy of our national team.

I still don't see any brits capable of managing the lions. All that talk about Moyes and all it took is an early exit from the Cl and a horrible start of the season. Allardyce just doesn't fit in that tupe of role.
The only one that has the gloryu backing him is sir Alex Ferguson and he himself is Scotish. :D

Possible candidates i would consider: Capello, Hitzfeldt, Rijkard.

Whoever they give the job to will be given the job of getting us to Euro 2008 i think. Even if things look really bad, the FA will stick by the person they appoint. Otherwise they will look like the incompetant pricks that they are. It will take something like not qualifying for the next Euro before the FA feel that they have a good reason to get shot of the manager. Then i suppose they will give it to the guy who didn't get it the first time round, and he will get the sack when we dont qualify for the 2010 World Cup. I am not very optomistic about my future as an England fan thats for sure. I still remember what it felt like NOT to qualify for the USA in '94. Its a s.h.it feeling believe me.

Hey Deisler, i know i said i was all for having a foreign coach man, but i draw the line at having a Jock as the England coach. That will never happen. Any Nationality but Scottish thanks.

i remember SAF saying "i will never betray my country" when asked about the England job :D

Dazmania......i think we were all grateful to SAF when he said that.

He wouldn't manage the England team but he jumped at the chance of getting a knighthood from the English Queen though. What a hypocrite.

Dreath.....you are right mate. Mclaren has as much personality as a dead fish. The media said that Sven was lacking in passion but next to Mclaren, Sven looks like a man possessed.

.

agree + he's a greedy old & very bitter vendetta-driven scot (who has achieved an awful lot in football) who's boycotting most medias anyway & he's got no woman-stories...+ he's not very loved at the FA anyway.

I'm still hoping comonsense holds in and someone like Scolari, Hitzfeld or or a similiar cv get's the job. Hope dies last.

No English manager is up to the England job yet.

nice to see the thread getting some life
I had a disussion with a friend of mine about the England Strikers appart (Owen, Rooney, Crouch which imo are certain to go) We popped up with the usual suspects (Defoe, Bent, Heskey, Philipps, Beattie) but aswell with golden oldies like Sheringham and Fowler and even Shearer.

Would you like to have 1 older expirienced (sub) striker available for the World Cup ?

Ready Teddy Sherringham will always be a great player to bring on when we need something to happen. He is still super fit and still reads the game better than anyone, AND he is still scoring goals. If he's good enough his age should not matter.

To be honest, Sven intends to take Crouch for similar reasons, to offer something different for the last 20 minutes. I wouldn't mind taking Teddy instead of Crouch. It wont happen though worse luck.

Out of those five names in brackets Ben, Bent and PERHAPS Defoe, are the only ones i would bother to take. The rest of them are crap. I dont fancy Defoe much either.Fowler? Forget that mate, Sven aint that silly heheheheheheheee

Well I'm still hoping he takes 5 strikers and Sheringham is one of them.
That's a spot on comment about why Crouch goes.

My 5 strikers would be

Rooney
Owen
Crouch
Sheringham
and either Defoe or believe it or not Heskey

Defoe is very similiar to Owen, whereas without Rooney the forwards look a bit soft, it might be needed to have a physical strong player.

Sorry but the Sheringham calls are ludicrous. He retired from international football in 2001 if my memory serves me correctly.

As it stands we're not sure whether Sven will name 4 or 5 strikers

Owen
Rooney
Defoe
Crouch

Bent (if he goes with 5)

For anyone who was listening at the time; "IT'S NOT SLOW, ITS PERFECTLY FINE"

only people who were listening to Chris Moyles will get that :(
