The England National team thread

England won 2-1 but Japan scored all goals LOL. Heskey should be sent home... Such a useless player. He offers absolutely nothing up front. I thought England played better than against Mexico but Japan had a well organised defense. The ball could hardly reach Rooney.

How bad was England... Again. USA will beat us at this rate. I sure hope this is from messing around with the team formation etc, sadly I think not. Capello really doesn't seem to have a clue who he's going to pick.

I think its not a good time to try new formations. Capello has always used 4-4-2 since 2008 and has been successful. Why try to change to 4-5-1 twelve days before the WC? I think 4-5-1 would work well with Rooney on form. But the ankle and groin injuries have destroyed his form. He's been nothing like how he was playing before these injuries. I'm predicting a crap WC for Wayne. Same goes for the whole England team anyway. Everyone sucked today except maybe Lennon.

Yep, even at this late stage with the finals 2 weeks away, Fabio has had to use our last two friendlies for assessment of players, and tactical experiments, instead of being able to play his favoured eleven thereby giving them two games to play together as a team.

Why are we in that position? It's because thanks to the Premier League, and Premier League Club Managers who demanded that their players spend less time with the National team, and reduce the number of friendly games that England are allowed to play.

This was Japan's 11th friendly match since they qualified for S.Africa. When we played Mexico, that was their 10th friendly match since they qualified for S.Africa.

We have had THREE.

Three friendly matches, is nowhere near enough preparation for a manager to be able to choose and assess his final squad, coach them, and try out a few formations and tactics at the same time. So instead of having 10 or 11 games to prepare the team, we had to settle for a measly 3.

Fabio has been pushing the FA to take on the Premier League over this fiasco, but the FA don't like to upset them too much, so they've done nothing about it.

Whatever, Fabio and the squad will be as ready as they can be in 2 weeks time. I wouldn't use these last 2 friendlies of ours as an indication of where we are at either. You'd also need to be a little naive to think that our last two games are indicative of how England will perform in S.Africa.

Fabio has already got it sorted, and I believe him when he say's he has. We'll find out one way or another in a couple of weeks time anyhow. So keep ya chin up Ade and keep the faith mate (Y)

Here's a bit of history that's been made by our Under 17's this weekend. They are the new European Champions after beating Spain 2-1 in the Final. Well done those boys.

I totally agree with England not having enough friendly games, it puts Fabio in an awkward place. The only time he can try new formations and new players is during these, very few warm-up games.

The Premier League is too demanding and controlling, but wouldn't you be if your risking top players to injury and fatigue, that could decide if your team wins/loses Premiership or risks Champ League qualification?

I personally think international players do not put enough into international games for what ever reason, I don't see the determination and ambition that was there 7-10 years ago.

It would ALL be different it they did the right thing and hold the WC here, in the most football passionate country in the world England!

Awwwww, poor baby. Thanks for a final post completely void of any substance. With over 2000 posts per year you damn well better realize that you'll be back. Especially during the World Cup.

Oh he will.

Also I am appalled I'm not on his farewell list, he basically named all the active posters except me.
