Wow, I was lucky enough to not have to work on Saturday so I got to watch the OSFP-PAOK game, and wow... what a display by Olympiakos. Just wow.

Yes Olympiakos looks scary this year... don't want to jinx you, but they might even do something in Champions League this year! :o
Panathinaikos looks strong too, but if Olympiakos is playing to their potential they will is scary.
A dissapointing weekend for AEKara, picking up only a draw in (Aris) Thessaloniki... from reading the AEK websites, we apparently should have won, we had more chances, but, that's life... :(

Limberopoulos21

Senior Squad
I've heard AEK are targeting Karagounis, some romania guy who supposedly really good and some macedonia that Toni Sevski likes. I doubt Karagounis coming to AEK, he's probably aiming somewhere in europe, but he has a good relationship with Demis and Santos. So anything is possible.

Also Castillo wants in the Greek NT. To me this is pretty new news. I think sucks anyways and has nothing to offer but complaints. He wouldn't really fit in to the team unless Rehaggle staightened him out.

Youth Team
Yeah I heard about Castillo... I first heard about it about 2-3 weeks ago... I think they should give him a shot... maybe start him with the U21s... he's probably not good enough yet for the NT... he would have to displace Katsouranis and Giannakopoulos on the right side.
He's been in Greece for over 5 years (1/4 of his lifetime), so he deserves a chance.

I didn't hear about Karagounis, but he needs to PLAY somewhere. It would be great to have him at AEK. Why does he have a good relationship with Santos and Demis?

Youth Team
Katsouranis is having back problems still... he left the game vs. Aris early... so it would be nice to have someone competent (like Karagounis) to replace him.

Isn't Castillo from south america?.....that is as ridiculous as Olizadebe playing for Poland(no wait that was too ridiculous).

Point being Castillo isn't Greek and shouldn't be playing on the NT

how about Rehangel bringing up some youngsters like

Agritis
Stoltidis
Taralidis
Vydra
:rockman:

Stathis Taralidis is going to be called up for the next game apparently.

Castillo is born in Uruguay. But he's lived in Greece for over 5 years... and he would prefer to play for Greece rather than Uruguay...
Remember. Deco was born and raised in Brazil.... plays for Portugal. He just got his citizenship the week before Euro2004.
Owen Hargreaves, born and raised Canada... plays for England
Half the French NT... born in Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria etc....
There are Brazilian born and raised players playing for Canada, Japan, Qatar etc. etc.

This is the way things are going in this world.... it's not like it was 10, 15, 20 years ago...

If Castillo has CHOSEN to live in Greece, and wants to be Greek, and learn the language and culture, and loves the country and plays his best and is proud of Greece and the NT, then why wouldn't we give him a chance to play for Greece?

My father is born in Greece but I was born in Canada... I know the language and culture and have visited Greece many times, but I've never LIVED there, and I didn't do my time in the army... if this kid wants to do all that stuff and genuinely wants to play for our country, then why would we say NO?

you're right but I guess I'm too old fashioned. I like the fact the NT is all Greek right now.

but if Castillo wants to play he would be a great addition in front

Castillo was born in San Luis, Mexico while his dad played for a Mexican league team.

He was called up for the Uruguayan natl team but rejected them because of how they treated him in the youth natl teams or something like that. He then met with Mexican FA officials and said he wanted to play for Mexico.

He was called up to the Mexican U-23 team for the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament but rejected it because he said he only wanted to play for the senior natl team. He was then called up to the senior natl team for a friendly but didnt come because he was tired. Then he was called for a FIFA date match but didnt come because he said he was in the middle of a possible career changing transfer.

in other words... hes a little bitch being told what to do by his agent/dad and not letting him make his own decisions. He said he wanted to play for Mexico but I guess he just wants to go straight into the WC. You guys want him? keep him

No true Uruguayan or Mexican soccer team fan want him.

Great matches are going to be played this coming weekend.

AEK-OSFP

AEK will now have its chance to show if this year's squad is a true contender as it faces the jugernaght that answers to the name of OSFP.
In my opinion OSFP should win this game, but AEK has the tools necessary to take the 3 points.
The winner of this match will be determined via the number of mistakes made. OSFP has self destructed in other matches (Apollon), and so has AEK(Zenit).

I think AEK will take the points just from having the home field. 65,000 tickets will be sold.....they are all going to AEK fans.

finally

Xanthi-Halkidona

the always renewed Xanthi, against the Cinderella story, Halkidona. This will be a very pationate game with Xanthi playing at home and looking to move on to the UEFA competition next year. At this point Halkidona seems to be the more likely participant having a steady record ever since joining the 1st division last year.

Tough call but I think at home Xanthi will pull through.

2-1

Wow, thanks a lot for the info. So he's of Uruguayan descent but was born in Mexico...
That's very interesting... he sounds like a spoiled brat. Well he's not good enough at this point (as a 20 year old) to make our senior NT, but if he wants to pay his dues and work through the U23 or U21... So officially he hasn't declared which country he wants to play for?.. he hasn't played in an official FIFA intnt'l match?
He's still a kid, so maybe he deserves a second chance, because there's no way Rehhagle will take him at this point (if he has a bad attitude).

This is going to be a hell of a match!
It's really good that AEK has all 65,000 tickets at OAKA... Olympiakos is still the favourite I'd say... but barely. AEK can win if they get a strong performance from everybody.

BTW, does anyone know where I can hear the match (online)?
I used to listen at SuperSportFM www.mygreekradio.gr... but that doesn't work anymore...
What about www.ert.gr/radio???

he hasnt "offically" decided who to play for... and he hasnt played in any offical FIFA macthes with anyone. But in an interview he said he wanted to play for Mexico but then he started acting like a little bitch.

And you're completely right, he should pay his dues (U23 and/or U 21)... but HE doesnt want to. He says he only wants to play for a senior natl team. Is he even that good to be demanding that?

soccerpk

...Well... Castillo isn't even a first choice at Olympiakos! There's no way he's going to waltz right into the Greek, Mexican, or Uruguayan NTs...

BTW, when was that interview that he said he wanted to play for Mexico?

No matter what country he ends up playing for, he definately needs to start in the youth teams and gain some valuable experience. Only when he matures will he be able to compete on the senior national team.

it was about a year ago. The head official of the Mexican FA and the Mexican natl team assistant coach flew over there to talk with him and his dad.
