Being 22, good Speed, Tackling and Cross Balls? You've got to be joking there.

I value those skills in a defender, this was the guy who came along at the right time. He's certainly good enough for my division, and has the potential to stick around in my squad for some time.

Failing that, as I said, there were people prepared to pay €1.5M for him...

Spot the difference. Mine was about 2.8m AUD.

My player's similar obviously, and I'm training speed (partial ball), passing and shooting. Not sure if bctrl maxed but I'll try that after those.

Once they all max (maybe after about three seasons if I get them to 7, 4/5, 9, 7) I'll try other useful skills such as cross balls, tackling, heading, maybe even set plays.

Where are you planning to train your player over the next few seasons after a speed ball?

Not only that, you bought him when inflation was even less than it is now ... nothing wrong with the price for that Argentinian at all.

I think some people are just unwilling to accept how much you actually have to pay now to get a player.

Just decided to let this guy go after a frenetic last minute bidding frenzy where his price went nuts. Please tell me I did the right thing.

Still looking for a young foreign striker around the 1m pound mark! Sigh - could have bought that 8 ball english 22 yr old today but passed him up to bid on this idiot.

Probably. I'd try to get somone with at least 6 Speed though, I'd prefer that to higher Ball Control to be honest.

And that 22yo English bloke ... only had 7 balls for shooting. He was worth 186k, sold for a shade under 600k. Ridiculous. Here he is anyway:

sorry - you're right - only 7 but seller said he was still improving, so that makes the price very slightly better.

as for speed, the price of high speed strikers is just crazy .. anything under 26 with 6 balls speed and around 6 shooting is in the 1.5m to 2m pound range

probably train him in shooting and ball control as well if he's not maxed. then stamina and cross balls

for 1.25m AUD... i thought that was a pretty good price for him. going to give him some tackling if he's maxed and maybe even some cross balls. the price is good... but now he fills up my final foreigner spot which leads to...

for 2.55m AUD, maybe a bit a high... but australian players like this come around one every blue moon. needs more speed and stamina though.

Ok then, after that last big-money-for-crap-player, experience, this time a bargain has been made.

Shiloh joins for £331,954, after a small bidding war in which the cache system took out half the bidders, and I won. Top marks for a great first name too.

I think the team is now set for the new season, at last...
