the winner will meet the 5th of the CONMEBOL in a 2 legs playoff

Uzbekistan is in the lead of the AFC playoff after defeat Bahrain at home 1-0.

the winner will face the 4th of the CONCACAF.

I really cant see that ever happenening, and if it does, I can see it like the Ukrane on a mini scale. One of them might produce one produly nationalistic world class player who turns out for his small country, but I doubt that would make much difference without quality to back it up, and those countries just dont have the manpower to produce good talent.

Then again, a miracle run is always possible I guess

Anyway, Ireland now need to beat Switzerland (away?) and have them lose to France in order to make the playoffs All I can say is, looking at their narrow win last night in Dublin, the French are fully capable of beating the Swiss, but I think the boys in Green must be a bit low on confidence at the moment. I hope they can get their shit together before the final two qulaifiers. It was that god damn match they gave away against Israel that got them here
