Looks like those quotes of Pablo Aimar coming to Liverpool proved to be false;

------------

Pablo Aimar has denied suggesting he would favour a move to Liverpool - according to Valencia.

Aimar was quoted in the Daily Star as saying that he liked the idea of playing in England with The Reds, but the club have issued a statement suggesting the reports were not accurate.

"The club has been in touch with Aimar, who has said that he has not made any declarations to English newspapers," reads the statement on Valencia's official website.

"Nor has he given any interviews in the past few days."

The Spanish champions also said that quotes from a club spokesman, Agustin Morera, claiming that Valencia had received an offer of €12million for Aimar were also completely false.

The Mestalla outfit explained that the story originally appeared on another website called foroche.com and that they had invented the quotes from Morera.

Fernando Morientes has revealed he has made his mind up to join Liverpool during the January transfer window.
Liverpool are in the market for a striker after losing Djibril Cisse for the season with a broken leg, and Spanish star Morientes has regularly been linked with a move to Anfield.

The Reds have not commented officially on their attempts to bring the Real Madrid ace to Merseyside, but the player himself is ready to dismiss interest from other clubs to join the Rafalution.

"Yes, I am going to England - I have decided," said Morientes. "I will go to Liverpool and for many reasons. The main reason is the coach Rafa Benitez. He is Spanish and knows me perfectly, which is worth a lot for a professional.

"We have asked Real Madrid to make a fast solution and I don't want to expand any further, except to say I am already looking through the English dictionary."

The player's agent Gines Carvajal has admitted Morientes' future is now in the hands of Real Madrid, who will need to agree a fee for the player's sale.

"Everything depends on Real Madrid. I haven't seen anything in writing from Liverpool," said Carvajal.

"I know they spoke with Madrid and the initial amount did not satisfy the president.

"But within the right price frame the feelings of the player will be a priority. That is important."

I really do hope Morientes comes to Liverpool and Madrid accepts the amount we offer them. But i also think we need a new centre back and place carragher back on the right side of defence.Who do yous think would make a perfect addition to the liverpool defence.

Well it seems like Real Madrid want 10m plus an option to buy Gerrard in June. Now how would that work? I mean would the price be pre-determined in the transfer or would a range be determined. But at the end of the day, a sale would have to go through.

10mil and a gerrard option isn't worth it imo. morientes is a good and proven goalscorer but he's already 28. and the option for gerrard? definitely not. rafa wants him to stay for the rest of his career. giving real an option for gerrard would effectively kill off his plans.:kader:

Between our OFFICIAL website, and Marca, i'll believe on the website. I would rather believe a fan-site than Marca aswell.

Around 8m euros. Morientes himself has basically told Real to deal only with Liverpool and no one else (eg Newcastle, wont even talk to them much less play) He knows Rafa and respects his record and there are 4 other Spanish players already settled with us, including former team mate Nunez, which would be as crucial a factor as any. He has been a model professional at Real, and only left with 18 months on his contract. We need someone alongside Milan Baros.

Even with a new manager(Brazilian), I cant see him wanting to stay would you?

Nah, definately not.

It is best for Fernando.

He was beginning to lose his place on the National Team.

It is best for his career. If Morientes had to go, I would want it to be to 'pool. As you said, with the Spaniards at Liverpool, he should fit right in. Also, Liverpool have Steven Gerrard, Madrid's target fo the summer.

Again, Good Luck Moro.

I'd have thought Raul is virtually a certainty, either up front or on the left. The fans' new darling Owen will also be in the frame, leaving Morientes right back where he was before. Highly unlikely Lux (haha) could talk him out of a move for first team football now with any guarantees.

They could sell Beckham to Leeds though.

Real are also looking at Adriano apparently, which is hardly suprising (Brazilian manager buying Brazilians). Luckily we're above all of that Nationalism at Liverpool.;)

As far as the Aimar thing goes, well, you could have knocked me over with a feather when it turned out to be bollocks. The speculation seemed so concrete too, especially with all of those "quotes" coming out on the Spanish version of April fools. Pellegrino is the most likely target from Valencia come January. An experienced player for a position in which we lack cover and free also.

Yeah, It's not as if Rafael Benitez would get any Spaniards for Liverpool after becoming Reds manager.

Oh, the irony.
