Morning all. Two interesting bits of news for you.
Cisse is defo defo on his way to Liverpool in the summer, which is the worst kept secret in European football I guess,.
However, what else I have to tell you is a little more interesting......Its very very likely that Duff will be moved on from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Most of you have probably seen the speculation surrounding Steve Gerrard and Chelseas supposed interest in him. Its all bollocks. The stories were circulated from within the club (Chelsea), but only in an attempt to deflect attention away from their main target and also to force the hand of another club. Basically Chelsea only have eyes for one centre midfielder in the PL and he plays at Arsenal. Abramovich sees the capture of Viera as a crucial step in overtaking Arsenal as London and Englands premier club, so much so that he has sanctioned a deal that would make any other transfer in Europe to date look like small change.
Part of that deal involves a huge cash lump sum to Arsenal, but also the registration of another player, that player being Damien Duff. As it stands Arsenal have resisted any overtures for their captain, especially now they have secured funding for Ashburton Grove. They just dont need the money as badly as people thought.
The problem for Chelsea is that Duff has somehow been tipped off that he is being lined up as a mere makeweight in this deal. I dont know the ins and outs of whats happening at Chelsea, but from what I have been told Duff is far from happy and the situation and its pretty much gone beyond the point of being resolved amicably.
This is where we come in, or more specifically I give you the information I know is FACT.
The club have been in talks with Chelsea about a structured payment deal to bring Duff to Liverpool. No idea about the fee, but you just have to assume that Chelea will probably be looking to at least recoup the majority of their money back (not all of it, he;s one year into a contract). The club are not prepared to commit to paying that sort of money at the moment, what with Cisse already on his way and our uncertain CL standing. We dont have that sort of money to throw around. Basically the club are trying to negotiate as long a term for the deal as is permitted under regulations.
So, it vould all fall flat if we cant come to some sort of deal with Chelsea, but if qwe can then its likely to go ahead. Its a deal that Duff wants from what I am led to believe.
Obviously there are those who will immediately dismiss me as a crackpot (or head!), but please bear in mind I am known to certain mods of this forum, who will vouch for me and confirm that my knowledge does in fact come from a genuine sources due to the access I have to certain people within the club.
