youngsters released

following youngsters released from the club Paul Harrison, Steven Gillespe, Adam Flynn, Jason Massie, Andrew Right, Steven Vauaghen and Mark Smyth....sad to see, had good hopes for Gillespe

thought massie was a good prospect as well...regardless they are all coming into their twenties and if they havent made the grade here its time to move on...

not surprised really especially with some of the piss poor performances this season - considering the training staff and facilities they have i.e. fa youth cup...

noticed that the offal statement didnt say that the reason there is a greater cull is beacuase the changes being made in youth football i.e. no u-17 and no u-19 separate teams...

dont care if its blue or magenta or turquoise so long as its allegiance to one team.

Liverpool are close to completing their second summer signing, claim newspaper reports today. Nottingham Forest centre-back Michael Dawson will make the switch to Anfield in the summer providing a transfer fee can be agreed between both clubs.

Dawson has been tipped to captain England and footballing legend Des Walker says he is the greatest defender he has ever played with. Other names in the game say he is a better player than what Rio Ferdinand was at the same age.

This is definitely one link to monitor, even though the reports today appear a little premature. Forest would want around £5million but Liverpool are said to have valued him at around £3million.

and just in case someone posts a Thai PM takeover article >

Never saw Dawson play (i only get EPL games here, and most of the time it's Chelsea, Arsenal or Man Utd anyway, sometimes they put a Liverpool game for a change, but i have to rely more on the highlights show than anything else to get some Liverpool action), but if he's good IRL as he is in CM, then it's a good signing. I've heard alot of good things about it, but never saw him in action.

Will Kirkland ever where that baseball hat while playing again because that was the funniest thing I had seen in a while. He looked like a school playing goalie in a baseball hat.

Liverpool today suffered a fresh injury blow with the news that Chris Kirkland has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks with a broken wrist.

The injury was sustained in training at Melwood this morning as the squad prepared for tomorrow's Premiership fixture against Southampton.

The young Reds goalkeeper is unlikely to be back in contention for a first team recall until May and will miss vital matches in the Premiership and UEFA Cup.

Liverpool Football Club spokesman Ian Cotton confirmed: "Unfortunately Chris was injured in training today before the team left for Southampton and x-rays later revealed he had broken his left wrist, which is now in a cast.

"After consultation with the surgeon he was informed that the break was a clean one and it does not require surgery. It is expected to be at least six weeks before he is back in action."

Kirkland has only recently returned to the first team after breaking a finger against Bolton on Boxing Day and in his absence Jerzy Dudek is in line to return to the starting eleven against the Saints at the St Mary's Stadium tomorrow.

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has pulled a prank on Ian Rush by calling him pretending to be a UEFA official.

Rush coached the Wales Under 17's to a convincing win over Portugal last week but was involved in a touchline row which threatened to land him in bother with UEFA.

The next morning the Liverpool legend took a call on his mobile from a man purpoting to be a UEFA official who wanted an explanation regarding his behaviour during the match.

As Rush made excuses he noticed that the UEFA official had a French accent. When the mystery caller started laughing, he realised it was none other than Gerard Houllier calling him to wind him up.
