No Park and Evra???We have no back-up defenders in the squad, God bless our defenders.

Park misses Roma trip

Ji-sung Park was the only surprise absentee as United departed Manchester for Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final first leg in Roma.

The South Korean midfielder was not among the travelling party, but his surprise omission was counterbalanced by the presence of Louis Saha and Darren Fletcher.

Sir Alex Ferguson had hinted that the pair would feature for the Reserves on Thursday night in order to gain match fitness, but they will instead bolster the senior squad in Rome.

An injury-hit 19-man squad flew to Italy, a far cry from the bulging ranks which travelled to France for the second round clash with Lille in February.

Patrice Evra is still not ready to return and remains on the sidelines alongside fellow defenders Nemanja Vidic, Gary Neville and Mikael Silvestre.

Travelling Squad: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Heaton, O'Shea, Brown, Ferdinand, Heinze, Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Eagles, Giggs, Richardson, Rooney, Saha, Solskjaer, Smith, Dong.

whose playing right back for us, they'll be up against this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncp_Tt45RkM, one of my favourite goals of this season , commentator cracks me up.

I am not too worried about Mancini, Ferdinand can handle him, if it was an english defense he would never be allowed to walk into the box like that. Totti is the main Roma guy and i think everything will depend on how well he is handled by our players.

I doubt very much that anyone would "allow him to walk into the box like that".

I think it's more a question of whether or not they can stop him.

I guess an English defense would have fouled him there?

Reveilleire is not a bad player, but Mancini took advantage of him on that play. It has happened to better defenders. I doubt he could have done that to Cris or Squillaci.

Anyway, looks to be a great tilt and I wish you guys luck. Roma is on fire and you will ned it.

Yeah, the english would have probably fouled him right before he got into the box, but i guess i am pretty confident that United can cope with Mancini. We'll see what will happen, the italians got to worry about Ronaldo themselves.

Anyway, as a neutral, this matchup looks to be sizzling. Your defense will be somewhat thin, so we'll see how they handle Roma coming at them. I also am looking forward to Ronaldo going at Roma's d-line...

hopefully with our lack of defenders we'll shy away from our usual euro formation as we tend to sit back a bit. and with so few defenders its not worth inviting the pressure on. so hoepfully we'll see the best of ronnie and rooney in attacking mode.

totti blah blah blah,,,,totti hasnt produced in i dont know how long,,,they are miles behind inter,,,,this team are NOT all they are cracked up to be and a score draw will do us fine and then finish them off in old trafford im not sayin roma are a poor team but they have not as many weapons as we do and shouldnt be so negative and get straight into roma from the start

Just like i said, Mancini is nothing to United's defenders, he can't get past them for his life. He got owned by O'Shea, which is really bad considering that its O'Shea. Totti was the one creating somekind of chances, even though he wasted quite a few.

Not the greatest result, but i'm certain that we will be able to overturn the result next Tuesday. The players will know exactly what they need to do.

I'm hoping for Park to comeback because even though O'Shea can deal with Mancini, he can also **** up easily. I would have much more confidence in Evra at left back and Heinze at CB with Brown at RB. That would also expose Roma's right defense spot by Evra, which would mean that Rooney could stay at a more central position more often.

I don't think the result is so bad. We played with 10 men and still created some chances.Roma's first goal where a lucky deflected shot, thats just bad luck!
we got the away goal and i think we are going to run over them at OT.
I will stay positive

I know Vidic and Silvestre are out for the rest of the season. How long are Park, Evra and Neville are out for?

O'shea really pissed me off... there were times we passed the ball well and kept possession and he always screwed it up. Lucky we got that goal..its was a breathtaking couterattack.

considering roma played most of the match against 10 men. They only could score with a help from a heavy deflection and maybe a blunder. I think we can turn the heat on at OT.

k strart on a positive,,,,roma did not impresse me very much,,,totti was poor last night as i suspected,,,,o shea was poor last night dont think he relised the skills of mancini and his passing and heinze passing was poor,,,BUT we were playin in a huge hostile stadium and it will be a totally different story at old trafford,,,also thought ronaldo was brillent last nigth

for the crowd trouble,,think every1 knows now that thw police were itchin for trouble and italian jounralists have confirmed this on sky sports,,,,roma fans had the freedom of there side of the barrior this really didnt make sense and could some1 tell me what happened at lille in lens stadium because uefa have said that the trouble there will affect their decision in this trouble i thought that our fans were being crushed and hopped the rallings which i also beleive are banned are they??? and what happened there???

got that off me chest hehe
