-------
Port Vale's out-of-contract striker Steve McPhee says he is not going to be rushed into a move to Portuguese Premier Division side Beira Mar.

The Valiants' 27-goal top scorer has spent the last two days in Portugal discussing a two-year deal with Beira manager Mick Wadsworth. He says he could make a decision in the next two weeks. McPhee, who has also been offered a new contract by the Valiants, said: "Hopefully I will make a decision in the next week or two, but I will not be jumping into a move straight away. I wanted to see what it is like here, but I am not ruling anything out at the moment.

"The thing I am weighing up is the fact I want to play at a higher level, whether it is over here or back in England.

"This is a higher level, but I have said I will see what is on offer and give myself a few days to think about it."

Losing McPhee to the Portuguese club would be an enormous financial blow to the Valiants, who will only receive a fee for the 23-year-old striker if he moves to another British club.

The player's agent, David Manasseh, said Vale should agree a fee with a British buyer to try to stop the player going abroad. He said First Division clubs are interested in the player, but are unwilling to go to a tribunal where they would have to commit themselves to an unknown transfer fee.

However, Vale boss Martin Foyle said agreeing a fee was impossible as the Valiants have had no offers for the player from any club. He said he was also angry Manasseh had not informed him McPhee was going to speak to Beira Mar.

Beira Mar, who are based in the northern port city of Aveiro, finished 11th in the 18-team top division last season.

Former Huddersfield, Carlisle and Oldham manager Wadsworth has taken charge this summer and is also trying to recruit Oldham midfielder Paul Murray.

And what matter the rifts between Porto and Benfica? Now Benfica have to choose managers concerning the rifts with Porto?

well no, but I was thinking in terms of the NT, and the public's support. You can't deny that a lot of "clubist" attitudes have escalated since Scolari's arrival.. but, who know's he's been successful when it counts, maybe he could do something with Benfica..

I'm just not a fan of Scolari in general..
