Because the Portistas act like they have never ever lost a game to Benfica. I have no problem saying on paper Porto is the best damn team in the SuperLiga and among the best in Europe, but some fans need to remember that they are not invincible, and neither is any other team in the entire world. Football is a game that is impossible to be perfected.

And I doubt any real Porto fan would trade a win in the Champs league with a win over Benfica... those are not Porto fans.. those are anti-benfica fans. It's quite different (and I know some Anti-Porto and Anti-Sporting fans. Every club has it's own rotten supporters )

They don't remind you on purpose. The reminder is wanted when people come in and say they are better than another team while forgetting the last result, which was a cup final, against the team they lost.

Make the sum of all the titles we won in the last 20 years, and imagine how it would be if it was Sporting or Benfica to win them... Wouldn't you become an arrogant too?

And really, I wouldn't call it arrogance. Ok, some of the fans may be so, but the fact is that (EDIT: SOME) Sporting and Benfica fans have a tendency to blame everything they can to make the Porto titles look smaller than they are. That's called bad loosing. Combine that with an opressed part of the country for many years winning everything in the present, and you got yourself an explosive cocktail

Leonor Pinhão, when Porto won the UEFA cup, wrote for "A Bola" article that the title meant nothing. That the UEFA CUP was unsignificant, and that only small teams were competing there. Can you imagine the number of Benfiquistas that actually read that newspaper? Can you imagine the number of Benfiquistas i had to listen, agreeing with her? Can you imagine how revolting that is?

But the funny thing his: That same b*tch wrote last year, for the same newspaper, when Benfica was to play with Inter at Giuseppe Meazza, that the UEFA Cup was the main goal for Benfica last season, because of all the prestige it was bringing to the club for being there....

BTW, I was suporting Benfica (like a madman) in that game... just like I do with Sporting, Boavista, Leriria and the others when it comes to foreign competitions....

Well, there certainly wasn't any kind of opinion like that here on these forums.

The Benfica-Inter last year I think is a classic, even though the worst team of the two legs won.

That's why I registered in these forums, and I don't buy any newspapers

And yeah, too bad that Inter got away with those goals so easilly conceeded. I believe the only problem for Benfica was just the lack of experience from some players in European competitions. They really desearved that one.

Just like I said before, Steubal is looking pretty strong in this pre-season. From what I'ver read they are playing attactive football, and combining that with some good results.

Estoril on the other hand... :P
