Sam Allardyce Is Avail..seriously i do hope we finish in 3rd so F.Santos can get the *** out of here

Big Sam wouldn't consider coming here, and in the extremely unlikely event that he does come, he'll end up signing a bunch of English long-ball "artists" that can't play worth a sh*t. In other words he'll be Graeme Souness Version 2.0, and we all know how great of a manager he was.

You don't get it, do you?

Even if it is a foul or not, Miccoli is going alone in that position either the ref shows the red or doesn't signal it at all. The yellow card just shows the coward he is.

And tell me, didn't you watch the play I mentioned in the 2nd half? Why don't you comment on it, ha? Second yellow for Caneira, no doubt.

Yes I comment. Yeah, it would be a second yellow, but for me, the first foul doesn't exist. I'm bookmarking this page in case something similar happens around against Benfica, then I just copy/paste. I was just trying to say it wasn't a foul. Was it a red? Yes. But the foul doesn't exist and Sporting would get out robbed because the ref didn't see well. Simple and clear.

And by the way, 1 point behind us. pssssh.

LOL

Porto already won the league. I couldn't care less if Benfica finishes 2nd or 3rd. (no, actually I do, because if Benfica finishes in 3rd then there are bigger chances of FS leaving the club).

If we're not champions it's a bad season, no matter what. Of course, I understand that in your club people think differently, there's no money so with the amount your club spent on players one can say Paulo Bento did a good job with those kids. Of course, you can't really be expecting to be champions in those conditions, though. Just stating the obvious here.

I love the way Sporting fans in general are so amazingly happy they're on 2nd place.

big deal, you should be sad because you lost the possibilitie to shorten the gap between you and Porto, but no, you're happy because you have won your championship, being ahead of Benfica.

haha, how hilarious.

Our budget is the half of Porto's and 2/3 of Benfica's, so if we finish second, with only 2 defeats, none away, being the team with less goals conceded in Europe, qualifying directly for the CL and winning the Cup, yes, I would definitely say it's a positive season!

so, Sporting is a team that fights to be in the European competitions only, i always knew that, never thought someone would admit it tho.

Insulting a club is just fantastic. We have less than half of the budget of Benfica and Porto. We have a very young team. With this, being in CL once again, cup final and the stuff SCP1906 mentioned, it is a very positive season.

How about you guys? Weren't you the best 1 month and a half ago?

it's somewhat hard for me to understand how can you guys consider positive not being champion, being one of the three biggest and better clubs of Portugal.

It's a failure to Benfica, Porto or Sporting not winning the championship, end of. The rest are just excuses, for me this season was a total misery, eliminated of Champions in a relatively easy group, being eliminated in Uefa Cup with Espanhol, being eliminated in the Portuguese Cup with Varzim, and wasting chance after chance to do better in the Liga, the rest means nothing, if i had in account that we have Fernando Santos in charge i could say that this was a ******* marvelous season, or the fact that we have no substitute for Nélson or Anderson, and our only good forward plays 1 good game out of 5, does this make this season better? No.

Even the substitutions of Bento showed no ambition to win the game, your fans were chanting at the end of the game, like you just had a win, i even heard fans of Sporting regretting winning the game against Porto knowing that it could give us a chance to catch the first place :|

You both might not be that kind of fans, i don't know you, but in a general way, Sporting fans championship is to be ahead of Benfica.

Totally agree, good post (Y)

And I mean, the posts I typed above aren't directed to offend anyone specifically, but the truth is most Sporting fans I contact with everyday do seem to care more just to be in front of Benfica than to be champions, which I find absurd and annoying.

One note to the part where Nuno Gomes is concerned I thought that he was just playing bad for lack of determination or something but it seems that he too has been playing injured (pubalgia) and unbelievably Benfica's medical team told him to hold on for the rest of the season, with chances of making the injury worse.

One indicator that they probably asked for the same to Simão is that there wasn't anyone from the club's medical staff waiting for Simão after the surgery. He probably "forced" this decision and if that was the case I think he did the right thing, because if he didn't things would only get worse for him.

Next season we definitely need to get a decent medical team and decent physical coaches. Too much weird stuff in terms of injuries, and also someone has to explain what the hell is Mantorras doing in the squad, sooner or later. I like him but this situation doesn't benefit neither him or the club, just want to know if he can or can't play more than 20 minutes a game.

That's ridiculous! We want to be ahead of Benfica and Porto, obviously.
In fact we have more reasons to care about Porto, because they are the team to beat In Portugal in the last years.
And apart from the 2004/2005 year, in the last seasons everytime we fought for the title until the end was against Porto, not Benfica.

Don't these people have more important stories to cover than Simão's Nintendo DS addiction? Oh wait, they could have done an investigative report on Benfica's medical team, but they chose not to once again.

Dear God how can Fernando Santos say Derlei was Benfica's best player out there tonight?? Unbelievable... He actually said this after the game..

And yet another disappointing performance, if it wasn't Miccoli.. (the true MOtM)
