because that, my friend, is the Real Madrid way, the only way they know how to do business.

or at least it has been for far too long.
Well when your name is R. Madrid and you come in to buy a player thier vaule usually go ups a lot. We need to stop that this summer and make smart transfers.

What I'm seeing in all your 4-4-2 diamond formation is that there is no playmaker midfielder, which is a must in a team like Madrid, eventhough we should sacrifice a forward then.

BenBeckham, the perfect LM sub is Jurado. No need to sign anyone there :)

Not really, if we play a 4-3-3 Robinho, Joaquin or Cani ( if we get either of them ) are creative enough to make it work. Even De la Red can open up the game with his passing. How I want it to look next season.

-------------Casillas-----------------
Cicinho----Ramos---Gallas------Aurelio
---------------Oubina----------------
----------Baptista----De la Red--------
Cani----------------------------Robinho
---------------Soldado----------------

Backups
GK - D. Lopez
RB - Diogo
LB - Filipe
CB - Mejia and Arbeola
DM - P. Garcia ( J. Garcia if really needed )
CM/AMC - Guti and R. Garcia
AMR - Balboa
AML - Jurado
SC - Huntelaar, Raul

I think this would be great as it would really force the starting eleven to perform otherwise they will get benched and our bench would look alright too.

I guess Huntelaar, if adapted, would be able to start right away, eh?

Yes, if he looks better than our other players of course he can start right away. Score goals like he does in Holland here and I wont complian about him.

Yeah, in your formation De La Red is the man stuck to the DM to help him distribute the ball, and give criteria to the game. That is what I meant.

Why do you need a "playmaker midfielder"
Because without this role football becomes primitive. You can't have a defensive midfielder and then directly 2 very offensive right and left midfielders, and 3 forwards. I'm saying that cause Baptista is more a forward than a midfielder ;)

Do you guys think we should play 4-5-1 or go back to a 4-4-2?

Also, I don't think De la Red is ready to start on the first team yet.

^^ For me the only advantage of 4-4-2 is that Raul could play in his position. But this is only an advantage for Raul fans hehe. This apart, I would play as many midfielders as possible.

BTW soc your proposal is different and interesting :) I like the idea of having so many canteranos.

Yeah, I'd like to see a 4-5-1 too.

I think if we do go with the 4-5-1, we should replace Beckham with a faster, more attcking player at right-mid. Beckham is the perfect midfielder for a 4-4-2.

Ah I thought you meant more of an AMC playmaker like Zizou, Aimar, Riquelme is. I see De la Red as a Pirlo type player, a playmaker but not an attacking mid more of a center mid. In my tactic De la Red would also need to defend a bit and he will only be at the AMC position when we have the ball. I think him and Baptista could do this well, both can attack when we have the ball and not worry because Oubina can cover the back and both would have to defend a little which both can do. Also Baptista looks deadly when he is running at the other teams defence and not to mention he has a good long shot which could be useful.

I would actually like a 4-3-3 ( well a 4-5-1 when defending ). I think De la Red is ready, he looked very composed when he came on as a sub for us. Although he only played a little I dont think he missed a pass and he looked damn good. We need to start using our own players before they leave to other teams.

Thanks, I wanted to have quite a bit of canteranos...even if they dont start at least as a direct sub which will hopefully have them gain experience and maybe be our starters in the future. It would also be cheaper this way and I really hope our new president and his board members use our canteranos.

Looks like we will have a preseason game vs Real Salt Lake - http://deseretnews.com/dn/print/1,1442,635208118,00.html ....:| I sure as hell hope we dont do these tours like we did this perseason. We went to three different continents last time...:|I really hope we dont do this again. Sure its a lot of money but its bad for the players.

You know what candidate I would vote for? The one who would promote Soldado, Jurado, and De la Red to the first team. That would be proof enough for me that he truly loves and believes in Real Madrid. Sure they can sign some big names to fill other gaps. Just make sure the homegrown lads get their deserved chance.

Socrates, that was a very good line-up you got there, but one thing....Huntelaar would never come so early. He just plays at Ajax for half a season. He needs to grow. And also, he isnt a Real Madrid type of attacker. He can score a lot, but as a football player (technique, dribbling) he isnt the right man. Unlike Tevez ;)

That's for sure. I've heard an interview with Ramon Calderon and he dropped some interesting points. He said he won't use signings as electoral boosters, he won't even bring a coach selected personally by himself. We would create a sport comitee of experts and let them take all the decisions, which IMO is the way it's got to be. He also said we wouldn't do any changes in the economical/isntitutional aspects, which are healthy atm.

I just hope the voters don't make a bad choice.

this would be my ideal team for 2006-2007

---------------Casillas------------------
--Cicinho--Ramos--Carvalho--Del Horno--
---------------*Diarra------------------
---Beckham------------------Robinho---
---------------Riquelme----------------
-------Baptista----------Ronaldo-------

bench:

D. Lopéz, Guti, Diogo, Raúl, Soldado, Jurado, De La Red, Pavón, Javi García.
+ some other important signings.

* not Mahamadou Diarrá in O. Lyon. it's Alou Diarra in Lens. French NT player. he will be in the World Cup! :)

I recommend that everyone read Marca's interview with Camacho. He says many sad but true things. The main point being that he had no control over any sporting decisions(as I'm sure no coach has under Florentino). If we can get a President that lets the coach choose players based on neccesity, then we will win a trophy next season. If not, we'll make it 4 years in a row with nothing.

I posted a link about us being linked to him awhile. I guess everyone thought I was talking about Mahamadou Diarra but I was talking about this one. The guy looks very tall too.

Which Diarra is better though?

Both are CDM, strong tacklers...and what else? I've seen M. Diarra play but not A. Diarra.
