I think this article is a little bit biased... Guti is not the best player Madrid has had in the last ten years [so it states the article], I think the best player has been Raúl. [Even though the last two campaigns were not-so-good, the overall record is awesome]. I also think Guti has had many chances to probe what is he made of and he has wasted 'em [i. e., against Juve]. On the other hand, well... why doesn't Solari complain as well? Imho, Solari is waaay better than Guti, and yet he is still in the bench.
it says that Guti is the best 'canterano' of the last ten years. Raul isn't exactly a 'canterano', because he started in Atletico de Madrid youth academy, and when Jesus Gil y Gil closed it, he moved to Real Madrid
Guti is complaining because, in spite of the fact that he can play in a lot of different positions, none of the coachs (Capello, Del Bosque, Toshack, Luxa, Camacho, Garcia Remon, Queiroz...) has given him the chance to be a starter for an important part of the season. He has been a bencher since he moved to the first team.
Solari isn't complaining because he has a new contract
, and he's more humble than Guti. He has said a lot of times that he can't be a starter over Zidane, because in his opinion, Zizou is one of the best players of the world and a living legend
. Besides, Solari is often called to his NT and he has played and showed his worth in other teams (Atletico, River Plate). Guti has been in Real Madrid all his career, and he thinks he can't fight for a place in Spain NT or improve his game if he's always on the bench. In some way, he's right, but moving out wouldn't be good for him or for Real Madrid.
