They are making Cannavaro, Emerson and RC look old, while making Sergio Ramos look too young and Cicinho look

I'll say this, Madrid isn't this bad, but Lyon is this good.

Couldn't agree with you more. I was saying the same thing about Thuram to my fellow Cules when they were calling for him to be an automatic starter. You just can't play at that level all the time. The intensity and demands of a short tournament playing for your country is not the same as a season-long league.

cannavaro is a beast, with Juventus he was very very good. But just because he is a good player and top 3 defender that doesn't means he can't have a bad game.

Ronaldinho has had bad games as well, every player has one.

You're right Danny, but it also doesn't mean that you are constantly going to be on the super form that he showed in WC, plus playing behind Gattuso, Pirlo et al always helps. He had a great tournament at his highest level, but he's not going to play like that all the time. He is one of the top 5 in the world easily.

So far Thuram has been majestic in Barça but the defenders that come from Italy usually struggle in Spanish teams. They're not used to the offside trap and they have to cover more space. Anyway I'm surprised, because I thought with Capello Real Madrid has been built with italian mentality.

What I meant was, I didn't expect him to play out of his mind like at the WC for the whole season. So far what he has done has been exceptional.

I think Madrid still has to gel. They are just getting to know how each other plays, plus a new system. As I said, Lyon is this good, as they have had 5 weeks of Ligue 1 already to get into rythm, while Madrid will be better later on in the season I think.

I didn't mean to contradict what you were saying. I agree people shouldn't rate the players according to international competitions. Real Madrid fans should know that since Zidane was one of the best players in the WC.
