Anyone know when the fixtures will be announced? I know the matchdays are set, but who plays who and where and when.

Reasonably satisfied with our draw. It was never going to be easy, but at least it's not as tough as last year with Real and Milan. Maybe we can get revenge for the two chanceless exhibitions versus Real last season. Not saying I expect us to win any of the two matches, but hopefully we'll be able to put in a bit more than last year. At the very least Frank de Boer can show he's a better coach than Jol. (H)

Lyon is not as good as they used to be so maybe we can get something there. Still not an easy side to beat. I also hope we don't fall in the trap of underestimating Dinamo Zagreb, they beat us in the UEFA Cup a few years back and they had a pretty talented squad over recent times. They can prove to be a tricky opponent.

Yea, I remember that match, great performance from our guys. This year we have a lot of young, talented players, and we might finally show our real face.

Anyway I am pleased with opponents that Dinamo have. First match against Real Madrid, in Zagreb... I must get tickets for that!

f*ck a duck! almost the opposite of my ideal draw: Mou faces Ajax, Zlatan faces Barça, and Man Yoo successfully avoids the big names from the other pots, with only Benfica offering potential resistance ...

should have seen Milan drawing Barça though ... whenever Zlatan is sold from one league to another, he immediately draws his former team in the Champions League:

Ajax -> Juve [04/05]
Inter -> Barça [09/10]
and now Barça -> Milan [11/12]

I remembered the 98/99 season, when they used to be called Croatia Zagreb ... that was just after Morten Olsen's team destroyed everyone en route to wining the league ... on paper, it was the easiest Champions League group to draw, and I remember being quite chuffed about it for Ajax ... did not see 'bottom of the table' coming ...

If I recall correctly that was the season our current trainer and his brother tried to force their way to Barcelona. Olsen got the sack because of the turmoil it caused and than Jan Wauters came to f*ck up the rest of the season. It could well be the worst Ajax season since I've been a fan of them, lol. I believe we finished something like sixth in the league that year. :md:

Man, thinking about it, what the hell happened to Georgi Kinkladze? Hahahahaha... taking a trip down memory lane here. (H)

yup, that's the season ... the entire period of Jan Wouters' reign was the worst period for Ajax fans in memory ... I remember the embarrassment too of losing centenary celebration match at the ArenA ... really, it wasn't till Koeman that fans could 'believe' again ...

ah the days of the Georgians at Ajax ... I loved Shota! I still have my Arveladze #24 long-sleeve shirt somewhere ... Kinkladze was a sad story though ... he had the tricks, but he just never got it together for Ajax ... I lost track of him after he left Ajax for Derby County, which probably means he faded ...

nothing like a good nostalgia rush! (H)

I sometimes ran into Shota Arveladze in a Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam. His brother was there with him occasionally, and they looked exactly the same! He played in the Eredivisie aswell. Once Shota was injured, he walked around with crutches, and he needed some help with doors and chairs. I helped him around and he rewarded me with his autograph. I still have it somewhere. :) Must be around 10 years ago now (when I was 10 or 11).

Anyone who doesn't think Bayern is legit after that game needs only to see the face of the city fan next to me that entire second half.
