You only need an absolute minimum of 9 stadiums. But upto 12 is suggested...

With capacities of over 40,000.

In Australia, we have two great stadiums in each of the three eastern capitals, so that is six. We just need a couple in Adelaide, a couple in Perth, and maybe one on the coast of NSW outside of Sydney...(Newcastle? Gosford?)

As it is we have (sponsors names taken away):
Stadium Australia ~85 000

Sydney Football Stadium ~45 000

Docklands Stadium ~55 000

MCG ~100 000

Lang Park ~55000

Quenesland Sport and Athletic Centre ~50000

I think that if we got the Cup, that there would be a purpose built stadium built somewhere too...possibly Melbourne, as whilst the MCG is big, it's suitability for Football could be questioned...I think that as it is a World Cup, and would be sold out for all games, I'm sure that Stadium Australia would probably be where the final would be held. It leaves people much closer to the action (compared to the MCG), since the big end stands were moved for the games, and the side stands were moved in closer, and holds many more than the other two possibilities: Lang Park, or Docklands..

StadiumWA would be built by then too...so thats one stadium in Perth done..It'll hold 80,000 or something I believe...It will be oval, not rectangle, but 80,000 will make up for the distance from the ground...And stats show that oval stadiums (with fans further away) lead to more accurate refereeing! :D

And lets face it, it's a world cup, there will be atmosphere, no matter what :D

And if you're happy with oval, than Subiaco is another option out west, and Football Park in Adelaide would do too..Of course these stadiums could be updated for the cup..

And im thinking that maybe the revamped Gabba would be a better option than ANZ...thing is with ANZ though, is it is a bit tighter, and closer to the action (slightly) and would be much more flexible regarding revamps, dates, and also the pitch could be 100% purpose designed..

Only 1 city can have 2 stadiums, Alex.

So you're looking at probably Melbourne with 2.

ANZ Stadium should be torn down completely and never mentioned again.

Bobby, if what you say is true (ie. only one City can have two stadiums), i think in Au, that Sydney would be more likely..Simply because both of it's stadiums are made for rectangle sports...Colonial and the G are great, but are both oval stadiums.

Then again, I'm sure because the SFS and Stadium Australia are so far away from each other, FIFA could be talked around, to having two cities have two stadiums...

Or we could call Stadium Australia, a stadium in Parramatta or something if it would make FIFA happy ;)
