...do u really care about the FIFA World Cup of Clubs held in Japan?

I mean...do u really demand ur team to win that title as u'd demand it to win CL?

well...in a few words...do u care about FIFA World Cup of Clubs?

I for one do. It's an honor for a club team to be crowned the best in the world, it would mean more silvervear this season. the thought of having a chance to be World Champions is awsome, and it would be such an honor for the club

i decided to ask that because here in brazil, many football fans and journalists state that europeans and intercontinental championships are like the story of the fox and the grapes (dunno the proper name in english).

well, u know the story...when the fox couldn't reach the grapes (i guess it's that...) 'she' said...'i didn't want them at all'.

so, when an european club loses a match like that, they kinda 'act' like that. they even get to japan with kinda a 'blasé' atittude about it. so, if they lose they can affirm that they never really cared about it - the real deal for them is the national league and champions league.

Well, like I said...that's the idea both journalists and fans sell about europeans on International matches.

anyway, if u consult the recent story of those matches...u'll find quite reasons for europeans to don't like playing against south americans...

in 1996, borussia dortmund played against palmeiras, under a terrible summer heat in the north part of brazil (the hottest in that season) and was crushed by 6-0. by that time rivaldo still played there. he scored a simply wonderful free kick goal, but the referee didn't confirm it...still don't know why.

I sure care about it. Any form of silverware is most welcome. I was totally overjoyed when we won the plastic Treble(league cup, FA cup & UEFA cup) a couple of years ago (Y) (H)

I think Liverpool will surely hold themselves back in this match. Certainly with the busy boxing days etc.

That's the truth. It's the same with the Intercontinental Cup - sure you always want to win as much silverware as possible, but in the end the league and the CL is what matters the most.

If it wasn't for the thread I wouldn't even know that the World Cup of Clubs is taking place at the moment. There's zero coverage and no interest.

ok, but will your support liverpool in sunday (as long as it will be there, beating saprissa) like it was a match against...Man U or Arsenal...or even like Milan in CL's final?

Or do u consider the level of the opponent team to do so? Do u think sao paulo is a 'qualified' opponent? Qualified enough to concern you as big as Man U, Arsenal or Milan would?

I must say the CL is MUCH more important to win! Of course it is nice to brag about that Liverpool FC truly IS the best team in the world! :D but this cup don't meen (for me) as much as the CL... :p

To be honest it's come at the wrong time for them. They're in great form at the moment and this silly thing in Japan could be detrimental to that.

I suppose we'll find out on boxing day when Micky Owen makes his return to Anfield.

it's stupid to say that Liverpool came to Japan to waste their time...of course they're gonna to play their best to win.

why people always said that Liverpool(or any other european clubs) will always take this challenge lightly?

well honestly...it's stupid to think like that because if u win cup...means u gain money. money does talk in the new era of football :hump:

BTW: i'm not surprise if Liv. will use some of the new faces in the match vs Deportivo Saprissa tomorrow...because they have to makesure all of their key players stay fit for the upcoming premiership matches. :hump:

The team is on a good run domestically and has been relatively helathy over that last 4 odd weeks. Zenden got injured but Kewell came back.....so apparently no problems there. The CL draw is DAYS AWAY and there isn' t room for injuries when preparing for a Milan or Bayern. Before you know it it' s Jan 1 and two strikers are either complaining about playing time or injured. The transfer window becomes a headache and when you look at the domestic table you see that Chelsea is up by two dozen. There are games like crazy and its only going to get busier. Players' health heading into big games has been an issue since I can't remember. One or two losses to teams like Wigan or Aston Villa and the IT SEEMS annual question of "will Liverpool finish ATLEAST in 4th?" starts popping up on all sorts of websites....this is LIVERPOOL and they cannot even finish 4th?.

No.

Mickey-mouse tournaments don' t mean squat to me. I wouldn' t care less if a reserve team was fielded and got beaten by Effff See La Vida Loca.

i dont give a fvck...honestly!!! waste of time for me, a long and exhausting journey...for what??? :nape: i hope this tournament doesnt spoil their brilliant form in the Premiership

I have already stated my opinion in the other thread... sure, everyone would like to win it, though this competition, imho is worth about as much as the euro super cup, maybe a bit less than that...
The fact that it's in the middle of the season, especially in England, where December-January is like hell, with fixtures all over, makes you question the attitude of the players, though I guess that once there, they play for win... can't guarantee they'll be going for those 50-50s as they would were they playing Milan or Barça for the champions league though...
South american sides will give it their all, because they have an inferiority complex (having to prove they're better), but I guess europeans don't care at all...

I think the better question is "would you willingly sacrifice a broken leg of Steven Gerrard for this trophy?" The answer for this tournament of course is no. If Liverpool could win the CL or the EPL, but only if Gerrard broke his leg the answer would probably begrudgingly be yes.

I think that's the truth. However, that does not mean they will not care, they will of course care, but it doesn't mean nearly as much as the other competitions.

Hey, I just noticed Crouch scored twice!? This could be a really good thing for Liverpool if Crouch comes out of this tournament with guns blazing.
