Too many 70`s wannabe rock-band . . .

Try Franz Ferdinand. I wasn't sure about them but I bought their album and it's ace.

What I don't like at the moment is all this 'melancholic rock'. You buy an album by Coldplay or Travis or whoever and the entire album is just the same - start to finish. Individually some of the songs can be good but for a 45min album. :nape:

...The Darkness are pretty poor too. The novelty of their 80s cock-rock image is starting to wear off now.

There's no such thing as too many rock bands, I rather have lots of crappy and copied rock from the 60's and 70's than all that crap that gets way to much airtime on the radio.

"**** you you ho, i don't want you back"

what are you talking about

 :crazyboy:

Aye, Franz pack a bit of a punch and British Sea Power (more arty than Franz but... not as bouncy) are class.

The thing with Travis and Coldplay is that they started so well (Travis released 'All I Wanna Do is Rock' before going all gay and Coldplay started with 'Shiver' which was a class single.)

Snow Patrol and Keane. Please, don't buy their music.

Teenage Fanclub, Super Furries, Manics, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Muse (the early stuff... not the prog rock bollocks.)

:nape: they are terrible. Keane's latest release sounds like a blatent rip off of Travis' Sing, and that's an awful song.

I liked early Muse stuff, but again their latest song is naff. The other groups are pretty good too but I'm not a big fan of the Manics. The Super Furries are good. Bands that are willing to try new things always hold my interest even if they sometimes do poor songs.

If anyone tries inventing a new style it will be bad. Therefore to be good you have to have good influences, which therefore come from the 60s or 70s. All you can really do is have a singer with a voice that doesnt sound like someone who has already been successful and write catchy tunes, but they have to be rock or they wont be good. You have got to copy things to not be crap.

Personally i'm not a big fan of those 70's or 80's wannabe bands, especially The Darkness. Everytime i see their singer i just wanna hit something because he pisses me off so much. If you dont like those bands you should try Silverchair. You cant say they're boring at least, of course i'm biased because they're my favourite band, but, they've done almost everything in terms of music, to Grunge, Nu-metal, Pop, Orchestral Rock, etc..

And the lyrics rock too.

Franz Ferdinand went mainstream over here. Pity.
That doesn't bother me. If a band is good a band is good, I don't care if everyone else thinks they are good as well. :)

Another idiot.
It's his taste, if he thinks so, that's his problem, not yours. But i would take Strokes over JET anyday (and i'm not a big fan of both).
