I drove for the 4th time in my life on Sunday.

It was terrible, I ran onto then curb and my dad screeched at me then I was so nervous I almost ran over 2 mid-aged women in the plaza...

I'm thinking I'll just wait for driver training... :(

:funny:

don't worry, i was only 6 or 7 years old the first time i drove, my cousin brought an old garbage truck home from the dealership, it had 2 steering wheels, so i took hold of one and drove over the curb:shades:

With a couple of years of driving, I've found out that you just got to go with the flow...I used to not let people get in front of me and stuff like that, but then I calmed down with maturity, and I know that some pissed off motherfuc&er might pull a gun out or something like that...plus its not like they are going to get anywhere a lot faster then I will:)

At the moment I drive a manual also, and I imagine how exciting it must be for you learning to drive stick, it was the same for me, but sometimes it does get a bit tiring. Usually it gets very boring when I am in the freeway during rush hour, or I am in a parking lot waiting for a parking space. Other than that it is a lot better then driving an automatic, and plus it allows you to have much better acceleration. BTW: have you tried the heel-toe manuever? If you wanna be pro, you gotta know this;)

I understand what you mean, but you know what....what if they don't know how to drive well and close you off in an attempt to get in front of you??:) Sometimes even if you put your car close to them to show them that you are there, they will still try to get in...I admit that sometimes I do that, but I am trying very hard to stop that..:) Especially since I am driving in the United States, in Argentina it would be a different story; over there if you don't impose your car you won't get anywhere.(H)

Never tried the heel and toe downshift, then again I never push in the clutch when I'm going around corners. I usually go down into second (obviously depending on how the corner is) and just smoothly "accelarate" through the corner.

Here's another tip some of you might already know. If you want/need to break extra fast, hit the brakes and shift down into second gear and release the clutch while your still breaking...make sure you wear your seatbelt:p
They never tought me this at driving school but it's a handy thing to know if you need to break really fast.

Depends what speed you are going at, and if you release your clutch to fast you might f,u,c,k up your transmission....plus it will make a jerky mov't, that makes you look like a novice:)

I'd still pass you, and then when you hit me i'd claim whiplash.

Well if you're not supposed to release the clutch too fast, there's a fine line but it is fairly easy once you try it.

yup, either that or you'd mount the curb on the other side of the road killing pedestrians.

Driving Lesson 1 - with proper instructor :p

Well finally, after a few more goes out with my dad in the car i had my first driving lesson the other day.

I think he was pleasantly suprised, he didnt say much but took me on roads that i had never seen before :kader: Nasty up hill starts and some sharp bends that i wasnt really ready for.

The car was quite similar, being a Corsa it is far smaller and less powerful than my Dad's ye old Primera, but it was actually nice to drive, the clutch was a lot quicker and responsive and its gonna take me a while to get used to i think.

Overall i found that i was often in a higher gear than the primera, crusing in 4th as opposed to 3rd.

Anyway, my next lesson is on monday and i cant wait, i just hope this time he speaks more :(
