Meanwhile Barca coach Pep Guardiola has praised captain John Terry for his behaviour after last night's semi-final defeat.

Despite Terry's disappointment, he visited the Barcelona dressing room and shook hands with each member of their playing and coaching staff. It was an act of sportsmanship for which the Barca team and staff applauded him out of the room.

''I want to thank John Terry for coming into the dressing room and congratulating us,'' said Guardiola. ''He's a true gentleman.''

Really proud to have this bloke as our captain. He's probably the most disappointed of the lot but still managed to pull himself through. Legend. :D

I fail to understand how anyone can say that Barca deserved to win based on the 2nd leg. If this was the way they played all season, I also don't get why they're being praised so much. It was entirely one-dimensional. Pass the ball around and do absoluely nothing with it. 60+% posession, 1 shot on goal. Footie has 3 core elements, defending, attacking and maintaing posession, and Barca only did one of those properly. Chelsea did 2. When we attakced, we attacked properly, when we defended, we defended excellently.

I can't even praise Barca for attacking with any invention or intelligence. Every second or third ball was a cross for a header, which is retarded considering you had no one in attack who could compete with our defenders in the air. I'm surprised they even attempted crossing the ball, I mean, they knew not to do it in corners, why not just hoof the ball back to the defense and try over? Would've worked better.

Over the to legs, I really think we deserved to go through. We defended flawlessly, and attacked with real danger. I can't describe how disappointing it was to have the victory snatched away like that, as well as a classic fixture being marred by shoddy refereeing. If people wanna say that Barca deserved to be in the final because of their whole season, I won't challenge that, but the semis did not show them to be ao deserving, IMO.

And anyone who says Chelsea sat back in the 2nd leg either didn-t watch it, or doesn-t understand the sport. Barca, like Spain, is a possession team. Pass, pass, pass, until you find an opening. They keep the ball. You can't attack without the ball, so we didn't attack as much, but we did attack better. Bad finishing and some good keeping by Valdes saved Barca in both legs.

Anyway, good luck and win the cup while you're at it.

Well, the same way you can say Chelsea deserved it because they managed to keep Barça from shooting and scoring and defended well, you can say Barça deserved it because they managed to score at the Bridge with a single attempt... There's so many variables in this "deserve" game that it's hard to really settle the argument..

well its all about diferent football styles, and both are very valid, if you really think barca is all about pass, pass, then you also dont understand barca's football either... barca's whole season has been all about balance, that is tactic smart defending and man to man pressing (example is etoo); our midfield is all about getting the rival tired with fast and precise passes, ad to that our offense was our biggest succes this season, and why???, well the answer was they finally click, henry finally understood we wasnt ment to be our center forward, we needed him as wing and he didnt dissapoint and etoo was finally injury free and thats all we needed from him; and messi well, is was his time, no more dinhodependency, he knew it was his job to carry this team from now on....
with all this said, i still think your right, barca was one dimensional on that second leg, but theirs a good reason for that, the game didnt apply for barca beeing 3 dimesional or better said chelsea didnt allow it; cause chelsea were clearly playing for the counterattack and they did it really well for a while, still we cant fault barca either, they tried to play their fooball, but chelsea simply had the bus in the back... its funny cause this game remind me so much of the madrid one earlier this season in the camp nou, and like madrid, chelsea paid the price in the final minutes.

and finally, i like to be clear that barca didnt deserve to be in the final based on that second leg... barca deserved to be in the final based on both legs, and a lot of you guys are fast to forget that first leg and that barca clearly deserved to win that game, i am only speculating cause alot of you are eager to speculate based on that second leg....plus, like i mention before chelsea took the biggest risk not trying to score on that first leg, and now i dont understand why people are so surprise with the outcome.

Barca fans here are so biased. Not worth it reading this thread. This thread SUCKS BIG TIME!

The thread has 2 different opinions that have been expressed. Everyone, who uses their brain, is going to have one opinion or the other.i.e. either in favor of Chelsea, or in favor of Barcelona. You should be freely able to think for yourself without someone else's opinion pushing you down. Disagreements will result, but atleast it motivates brain masturbation and debates. It's that ability to make our own judgement on various topics that separates us from the hookers/prostitutes.....

same here man. I've always held Barca in high regard, even though I wished they hadn't took Guddy from us. :)

I think the whole reason for the argument is that Chelsea fans/some neutrals see the referee as the whole reason for Chelsea not winning the match.
While the Barca fans/some neutrals think that Chelsea fans are implying that Barca were saved by the referee and that Barca don't deserve to go through on their own merit.

I think I'll clear this up, Barca did nothing wrong, and you could say that both sides were equal if you compare the contrasting styles of both Chelsea and Barca. Both teams played to the fullest of their abilities, and you have to understand the disappointment of losing in such a manner, in addition to that this game was unfortunately marred by bad officiating.

Which is why I agree that a more top qualified referee from Europe's top leagues would've been better(from Spain, England, Italy, Holland or Germany).

I'd prefer it if Barca just scored the last gasp goal, and none of the other debated incidents never happened, its just too hard to swallow.

It just occurred to me, but the damn ref with his bald head and shaven eyebrows was trying to look like Collina. He's not even fit to lick Collina's boots.
