UCL Group D: Benfica x Manchester Utd [P+R]

this was without a doubt the most disrgraceful performance i have ever seen from manchester united. finishing 4th in the champions league group is 100% unacceptable. fergie, hold your hands up and resign, your mistakes have cost us. 4-3-3 doesn't work, this was proven and yet you still chose to play that way. for that, you must leave.

Yeah, Ruud and Rooney were great today
That's kind of a simplistic way of looking at it isn't it? Along with van der Sar, Rooney and van Nistelrooy are United's most consistent performers.

Ruud and Rooney were not so good because of Luisão and Anderson wonderful performances. the 2 brazilian towers don't give chances to anyone (H)

Benfica deserved to win although in the second half we didn't play very well
but man utd is the most powerful and rich team so it was up to them to go after another result

and man utd fans stop using that ridiculous "diving" excuse :nape:

I'm shaking and I lost my voice completely.

Possibly the most emotional football night I can remember since the win in Highbury like 10 years ago.

Won't comment on the game right now because I'm too fired up to do that with a clear head.

I just want you to remember that Rio Ferdinand makes TWICE more money in a month than the value of Beto's transfer this year.

oh forgot about it.

Hats off to Man Utd supporters that were there.

We went by a large group of them at the end and they were all clapping us, class stuff (Y)

Koeman's idea of putting Geovanni as a striker was great (H). Nuno Gomes plays so much better in the position he was today.

That's true. Big thanks to them. I was also there and they were excelent, in and outside the stadium.

About the game, as I said before the match.. You only win games on the field, and Geovanni showed himself as I said:). He even defended.. That was a nice move by Koeman. I think that we deserved to win, not having our key players and still playing with so much heart..
About the time wasting... You probably don't know, but Quim (our GK) is still injuried. You just have to check who's been playing for us. I don't think that he was wasting time without reason. And I don't think that there was so much time wasted, just on the final minutes, and you have to agree that any team would do that.. But I can understand your feeling.. That moment from Geovanni when he was subbed, shouldn't happen.

We're there...so much suffering...such a nice atmosphere... LINDO!

Truely brave performance by Benfica, they made Portugal proud today.
I'm specially happy for the majority of the Benfikistas that attend this forum, you guys must be in heaven right now :p

Benfica had a secure enough performance, loads of heart, and the always needed luck in the most difficult moments of the game.....the time wasting is normal when you get to the final minutes of such an important match and you're beating ManU which is no easy task, if you ManU fans were in the same situation you'd understand...it's not easy to overcome such rich and powerful clubs given how small and poor at least financially our teams are comparing to them.
Portuguese teams are making history even with the fewer and weaker resorts we have, and that is obviously nothing to be ashamed of.

Porto did brilliantly a few years ago, now it was Benfica's time to shock Europe (at least ManU again (H)) and I hope many victories arrive for our nation, in this case at club level.

Exactly, that's what I said. Let them look at the past games and see Quim struggling because Moreira can't play either. But hey, if it makes it easier for some people to complain about that..
