Roberto Carlos, Hleb and all four of Arsenel's backline, except maybe Flammini, impressed greatly today. Lehmann was good, but absolutely should have had a penalty whistled against him for that play on Beckham. I think it was a measure of how little Madrid cared that they didnt even protest. Casillas should not only be captain of madrid, he should be their highest paid player, simply for putting up with a ruinous defense week in week out. If I were a madridista, I would be livid right now

I disagree about Flammini. He was played out of position but still stood strong against Beckham the whole game.

Madrid were awful though Beckham, Raul, Gravesen and Baptista seemed to have a bit of a fight in them.

Flamini, to be fair to the guy he was out of position, but he was terrible - Beckham rinsed him almost every time.

That Real defence really sucks. No organisation, no aggresivity at all and whenever Arsenal was attacking all the players were staying upfront. Really shocking display at the back which costed them the game. Arsenal could easily score more goals from counter attacks with that sort of defending.

man what are you smoking? there is absolutely no way that should have been a penalty. lehmann already won the ball and beckham tripped over him. theres a reason they didnt protest, cuz they themselves even knew it wasnt supposed to be a penalty.

-Reyes totally owned Cicinho, who needs to learn how to defend

This was the worst Real Madrid match this season.

Wenger knew our weak points and raped us. Basically Madrid was broken in the midfield. Dont blame the defense, they are alone and they do what they can, knowing Cicinho and specially Roberto Carlos are attacking all the time.


Arsenal played much better and the score could be 0-2, 0-3 easily. Luckily for us there are still 90 minutes to play, and winning in Highbury is enough to defeat Arsenal, wont be easy anyway, but i bet Madrid wont play so bad as tonight

O and Crusad3r i totally agree about wenger. he was spot on, cicinho is reallt good goin forward, and usually ahead of beckham, but because of reyes' pace he was stuck in his own half all night, cus he knew he couldnt leave reyes on beckham so imediatly wenger, eliminated the double team threat of beckham and cicinho.

Also i think it shows the difference between prem and la liga, because the speed and fitness of arsenal players looked miles ahead of madrid, and the movement of the ball. was shown as well woth the amount of space henry had all game, he probably loved it 2day, because he never gets tht much space in the prem.

Losing to Arsenal, when their are in their worst form in like 5 years is pretty damn bad, especially if it's through a goal scored by a player that usually doesn't show up in big games and also when he ran past 3 defenders. First off congrats to Arsenal, after 4 years of not losing at home in the CL we lost it. Our players underestimated them ad we had a terrible game, so slow and so predictable. Reyes can go **** himself, I wish Casillas would have bitchslapped him. He had a great game no doubt but he is a scumbag. Ronaldo should never be able to wear our jersey again. I hope he does not even make the bench anymore ( oh wait with Perez here thats impossible ). Good thing we only lost by one and again congrats to Arsenal.

Goes to prove what is still true; Arsenal are a very good side when they are not hastled and hustled, something most Premiership clubs now adopt.

Madrid were standing off them/leaving too much space without knitting enough together upfront to really justify it. Ronaldo doesnt even look bothered and was not in the game at all.

Arsenal did a fine job on Madrid tonight. I gotta admit, after 30 minutes i was hoping for an Arsenal win, and that is totally NOT me. Fred was the man of the match, without him Arsenal would of had no spirit at all. He showed the rest of the team what was possible and they were fired up by his attitude, and until he tired later on, he was immense.

Woodgate going off was a big blow for Madrids defence, because the other defenders were a joke,especially Ciccino.I cant believe we were fighting Madrid to get his signature. Thank God they got him and not us.

I have often read that Beckham gets cheered a lot because he at least gives 100% every game.Well he gave it 100% tonight too, but in my opinion, most of the other Madrid players dont deserve to be on the same pitch as him. They are lazy, slow, and clueless, and when Arsenal realised just how asleep Madrid were, they exploited that with pace and made Madrid look like a second division side.Arsenal, and it pains me to say it, won some respect from me tonight for their effort. It helped a lot that Madrid were crap but they still won so good job done.

Flamini and Fabrigas were/are poor as usual and they should thank Toure and Eboue, who both did well, for saving their asses many times.
Reyes is a disgrace for the way he crawled back onto the pitch to stop the play when there was nothing wrong with him. That is blatant cheating and its ugly to see, pathetic behaviour.

If you watch the Lemon V Beckham incident again, watch Lemon raise both his legs while on the floor to trip Beckham. Yes it was a definate penalty and Arsenal were lucky that the ref was useless. Give Lemon his due though, he was very crafty the way he did it. He made it a very difficult decision to call.

I now understand why the Madrid fans give Ronaldo a hard time. He is useless. No other word for it really. He wants to come to the EPL does he? Well he had better stay away from Chelsea because then he will find out what its like to be unpopular.
Zidane is finished and should hang up his boots. It is embarrassing to watch a once great player putting on a show like that. Robinho is a weed, good skills but is built like a twig. Would not last 5 minutes in the EPL. Another lucky near miss for Chelsea.

So, well done Arse. Make the most of it though because i think Madrid will be up for it next time.....Or on the other hand , maybe not.One things for certain though. Madrid cannot be as crap as they were tonight, so at least the return leg will not be so one sided.

Beckham needs to come back home. He needs to be with players who have just as big a heart for the game as he does, and he will not find that in Madrid.
