I wonder if we can find stats on barca in terms of goals scored and conceded season by season... I cant find anything.

They have obviously improved this season and won the la liga again etc Its reflecting there goal scoring run. I wonder how many they conceded previous seasons in all competitions etcs.

I wonder what the ratio is like in comparison

We had almost 7-8 games without scoring just in the League.

This season, just 2 games out of 59 in all competitions.

very significant signs of improvement then. I wonder what's made the team change so much? Surely deco wasn't that bad

Seriously though... maybe its messi. Things seem to be clicking for him like ron did for us last season.

If you look at his goal scoring record...

2005/06 - 8 goals
2006/07 - 17 goals
2007/08 - 16 goals

then bam

2008/09 - 37 goals

there again, eto's back to fine form and henry does what he always does scoring around 30 goals a season.

Maybe the new manager? anyway I'm curious as too what you think has made your team suddenly Gel this season.

Which makes an interesting topic in the fact united have been geling the last 3 years, and won almost everything thrown at us last season and this season, including European, club world cup etc. we Already won 4 trophies, CL maybe being the 5th.

we have been in devastating form for 3 seasons, ever improving. We have also made the champions league final for the second consecutive year. We have a mountain of experience and the 'geling' factor on our side.

This year could really over shadow our treble winning year if we win the Champions League. An unprecedented 4-5 cups.

ok, finally one good topic.

Well, I think the team change is called "Pep Guardiola". Then as you said, Messi's fantastic form this season could be the second factor. The kid is still only 21 and has al his career in front of his face.

Eto'o`s change, I think, it's another Pep opera. So there is somebody, finally who can keep eto'o mouth close for some time. 90% of eto'o goals are the first one in a match for us, so they could be the most important.

Henry, was back in form this season for us. Our best golgeter last season ( 19 goals ) is season only the 3rd goalscorer with 26 goals. So this could be another important difference between last season and this season performances.

Also Iniesta's continous growing up play, was another very important thing, unfortunatelly his form was disturbed by the numerous injuries.

Plus all of the youngsters like Sergio Busquets and Pedro grew up with the huge help of Guardiola. So all of those changes came up from Pep and all his work with the staff.

that means the odds a stacked against us in terms of stamina. Lucky for us SAF will hopefully rest players vs Hull for the Final.

If they win the champions league they could only better the season next year by grabbing the FA cup too.

Its no wonder how few of these things we win in comparison too other countries though.

Carling Cup is for your reserves. Club World Cup you played two matches. You can't say ManU have are at any disadvantage.

lol... you got to be kidding me Carling cup for reserves? if you call "O'Shea, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Ronaldo, Gibson, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Tevez. Anderson, Giggs, Park, Vidic, Possebon, Eckersley" all reserves then yeah.

and those extra games from things like the club world cup make a big difference to busy schedules. Your right though.. that will be our 66th match of the season.

Still you know when Barca had that really busy schedule recently, well we have had to do that 6 odd times this season when we have had to play again against big teams within a few days of trying to win another. Its takes there toll. Look at all the injuries we have had this season. At one point we had 11 of our core players out of action for a extended time. Some hard work allowed us to carry on winning, not to mentioned the double effort that was need to be put in due to our terrible start. People seem to forget how far behind we were. Everyone wrote us off for liverpool *shudder*

Its been an extremely hard and busy busy season with multiple problems.

he was already knowed as "cruyff son" and johan was who recommended pep for the barça bench.

long life johan cruyff, he teach to the looser catalan town how to win and doing in a nice. firts as a player then as a coach now as a god, the tittles keep in the books, the way to get it keep in heart of the fans forever.

Yup, got most of the World Cup games of 1974 and 1978.....probably the Docu ones....But they also might have only just showed his Best qualities......


But, chuck It....he is the ******* best player I have ever seen, even if I compare him with Best Moves, skills, attributes....etc...etc and whateva else matters in choosing your favorite player of other greats....

Just to get back on our change, there's one key factor, that really isn't because of anyone. It's the change for the sake of change. The morale in the team was bad with Ronnie and Deco not giving their best, not obeying the rules. And Frank just couldn't handle these primadonnas anymore. Then, they got rid of them all, but trusted in the rest of the team, not trying to buy a new one. The players understood that they we're counted on, and with a manager like Pep, it was bound to happen. He's a great motivator, plus a Barca legend himself. For the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol it must've been great, as they want to prove theirselves to this icon.
