Uh oh. I've seen the new FIFA 2005 gameplay, and compared to PES, its...

STILL crap.

Take a look for yourself, at this custom video of Mexican teams Club America and Pumas I was sent by a friend who held out hopefor FIFA 2005, and is now firmly in the PES4 camp...

http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/ps2/fifa_soccer_2005/files

WOW; It's the same crap gameplay. Maybe a little tweaked in terms of the dribble, but that's IT...look at those FAKE-ASS CROSSES!!

How does EA Canada get away with it each year?

It reminds me; there used to be a radio show segment on the Sports Talk Radio I listened when I was much younger, near Philadelphia (610 WIP), called "Who's Stealing Money?"

EA Canada would've topped that list every year since RTWC98.

I thank goodness for this forum because even though I just signed up, my friend had linked me to a thread in here a couple years ago about WE6...I bought a PS2 and the game (my bro took the xbox and the fifa). Simply amazing.

Uh?

You must be the first person on earth to have SEEN gameplay. I'm sorry, but there is NO WAY you can see what the game will be like until you PLAY it, NOT watch it. Stop with you biased comments and try and realise that FIFA is a decent game, also, that vid was of a BETA version.

Oh and before you say "kiddy, go back to your FIFA." I don't have FIFA anymore, I got PES3.

See that's where you are wrong. Your argument is crippled by the fact that FIFA HAS gotten the benefit of the doubt, a POSITIVE bias, by producing - year after year - an inferior product, getting my money...for YEARS. And they've failed. They now no longer GET the benefit of the doubt. That has to be earned. Its 100% common sense that, after being kicked in the gut nine times in a row, when someone lifts their foot for the tenth time, to EXPECT to get kicked in the gut again. Look at those crosses. its the same gaeplay engine; if you can;t see the previous iteration's gameplay in that vid, you haven't played FIFA.

Has PES3 earned the benefit of the doubt? Of course it has. Is it perfect? Of course not; in that, it's once again matching stride for stride real football in terms of its realism.

If you think that you can take a look at the promises, statements, and relative expections of the FIFA series (particualrly in light ofthe development of the Madden, Live!, and NHL series), if you REALLY think that you can come on here and, having played FIFA 99, FIFA 2000, FIFA 2001, FIFA 2002, World Cup 2002, Euro 2002, FIFA 2003....AND FIFA 2004, and say that EA have earned, through their game development and the value for money that they have given consumers and fans, the benefit of the doubt, then you are quite simply totally and maybe irrevocably out of your freakin' mind.

Warmly,

Mel Brennan

Of course it isn't, but how can you explain away those crosses? I'm basing what I see in terms of that type of stuff upon my vast experience with the product. To do anything else in the face of years upon years of failure is...well, tell them Sean...

It is folly...

Think of it as a number line. Staring at -0-, you are sold ****ty gameplay for seven years; that places your beginning analysis point not at -0-, at neutrality, but at -7, the reality of your year-upon-year experience.

Put it this way, I'll stop asking FIFA 2005 hopefuls to remember when EA stops asking us to forget. "ALL NEW! ALL NEW!" In fact, EA TELLS us that FIFA 2005 features an "all-new animation system," right on the FIFA 2005 website.

If you believe that EA Marketing's defintion of "all-new" is the one most humans use, the one most GAMERS use, you are, well, like my fellow Americans in terms of our Presidential choices: doomed to get exactly what you both deserve, and the end-product of what you've demanded for yourself.

You deserve more. DEMAND more.

I guess you're right. But the thing is their games haven't always been bad. In my opinion it was only until about a year or two ago that it got really bad, and even then its not totally crap like all PES players like to say it is. And all i meant was that you can't say its crap until you play it, no matter what the crossing or whatever looks like in the video.

I'll submit - and admit - that the FIFA 2005 movement looks better (even if it is still pinball-ish) in that Univ. of Valencia 1 hour vid that's in the FIFA 2005 forum. Still am not going to buy it; neither are my friends. EA must be punished, and PES4 will be enough this year.

Let's hope that EA's fear of losing real market share to Konami continues to drive this group to actually do a day's work and stop stealing money each year.

We deserve that.

the fifa 2005 video you refered was an alpha version with a long time, one of the first alpha. If you want to talk about fifa 2005 talk about last version video, the alpha 30 showed in the campus tv video with 1 hour... next version will be the beta one.

BYE BYE FIFA.

Just saw the new FIFA 2005 videos from IGN. And to me it LOOKS like a combination of Fifa 2003 and 2004. Gonna have to wait and see how good the gameplay is.

Oh, Ididn't notice this forum branch and posted this in fifa 2005 thred also, but in case you don't go there I'll share my thoughts here too.

I watched these few gameplay movies on IGN and concludion is undoubtfull - it's the same ol' crap.
Same pingpong pases with no decent animation and without any variation on the pass speed, they all ping like bullets. Players still move like they're made of wood. I didn't notice any specific feel in movement of defferent players. For example, there was a Juventus v/s Arsenal match and like in previous fifas, Zidane runs with the same speed as Henry (WTF). Adden some new animations which they could better leave aside like the stepovers constantly executed by every other player with no meaningful reason at all. The pace of the gameplay is to damn fast still. Same arcady gameplay, the ball goes like bullet an player movements are as robust as in 2003/2004/euro.
I'm completely sure that EA guys are quite clueless on what actually is football and how it usually plays and feels. I seems that they have watched couple of matches, because ''boss said so'' and now have to make a simulator out of the game they understand aproximately as deep as I baseball.
I've played fifa series since Fifa 95 on the Segamegadrive console and for it's own time it vas quite good, but it seems that EA's awareness of what is the greatest game on earth hasn't improved.
Since I first got to play iss pro on PS1 I just can't bear to play EA's representation on what they think is a football game. Well, I kinda liket Fifa 98 RTWC on PS1, but it still sucked big fat balls if compared to Konami's footie sims at that time.
I think there could be an improvement if EA wasn't so greedy and took theyr time to make realy serios attempt on ''simulation of the football', not just tryeng to make ''fun'' game. We don't need fun, if we need it, we go drink some beers and make party or play GTA. What we need is realism and real life like gameplay which EA doesn't bother to acknowledge and maybe they just don't know what that would be. And my advice would be to hire some europian devs for football sims and leave ice hockey to canadians, baseball and, this eeerm... ''rugby with no rules thingy'' americans call football to them.
Just my couple of cents.:boohoo:

This is just an AlphaBetaMetaContraOmegaMars version, so you cant judge based on this video. We all know the final version will be much better like in previous years:kader: :kader:

You have to be so naive to think like that. These vids are pretty much descibing direction in what EA went this year and it hasn't changed. Well, unless these videos are just fake actually captured from fifa 2004.
