Use of technology! Is it nessesary? Why?

I know that this theme is being debated everywhere, but why does FIFA refuses to use replays to be able to decide offsides, goals and all sorts of stuff?
How come this was used against Roberto Carlos and also in Peru?

If replays would have been used, The WC would have been much better! (Spain would have classified, that goal that was pushed with the hand..come on!) SO many unfair things could be clearerd up with replays... Im not saying to eliminate the referess, thats absurd, but maybe the referee should take a look at the replays to make a better destiton ro something like that....

refereeing should be kept the way it is, even if its not the best.

Ja ja, u say u like Stuttgart?
What if Stuttgart lost 4-0 against X team and the 4 goals were actually offsides or..i dont know would u still have the same opinion??? DOnt think so dude...

but what if Stuttgart wins 4:0 and all of our goals were from offside positions... didnt look at it this way did you?

i do think though that the referees are a bit too old and are slow, maybe we should get some younger referees with more endurance and activity on the pitch.

do you realize how long a soccer match is, full two hours with everything, and imagine how much longer it would be for referees to stop the game and then see the replay over and over again, i mean its already too long to watch a full soccer game, not to think of how long it would be if these replays got involved. its much better to keep this system, but get a better refereeing crew.

DAMN ure always trying to make things harder!!
Maybe a 4th assistant could be watching the game closely and tell the referre by mircophone or something! It would be the same but instead of the referre asking his assistant what they saw (that might be wrong), the referee would only have to talk by micro with his assistant (the one that checks the relays) and everything is much better!!!! Please dude realize its much better!! Better refereeing takes time to develop and damn, theres lots of other things!!!

I and some other Manchester United supporters would probably say yes to video technology after see'ing that onside Scholes goal disallowed - I'm not taking anything away from Porto before people start jumping on my back.

You win some and you lose some(I.e. the Man Utd v Newcastle Utd a few months ago), but there was really no excuse for the linesman's poor decision during the game with FC Porto the other week - I'm over it.

The Leeds United/Manchester City game a few days ago - Alan Wiley literally handed Leeds United three points on the spot, which resulted Daniel Van Buyten being sent off for a profesional foul he didn't even commit - as much as I enjoyed it.

I won't forget what happened at Highbury last season even though we did win back the Premiership in 2002/03.

Thierry Henry making it 2-1 to Arsenal - a yard or so offside.

Had Giggs not of gotten the equalizer straight from the kickoff, that could've dented our hopes right there.the kickoff, then we might not of got back the Championship - thanks to one bad decision.

Marseille v Liverpool - UEFA Cup, many can argue that Marseille should've been given a freekick instead of a penalty, but I'm not taking anything away from Marseille because they were bloody brilliant.

It works fine for Rugby and other sports, so why not? - Just my opinion, and if anyone doesn't like it, then tough shit.

Goodnight and wet dreams. :ewan:

Agree with Sanel, it would actually prolong the game for at least 5-10 minutes.

Plus put in technology, means take away all the controversy there is, take all the arguments, take all those big talks out. It would make the game more fair, but what would you rather be? Like NFL fans that all they have to talk about is how their team is doing or like Football fans that talk about how their team is doing, bad luck, bad refering, controversies, big moments, big mistakes.

I would definietly chose the later one, because that's what makes the game more interesting and exciting, anything can happen in it, even if my team would suffer by it, like they did 2 weeks ago.

You have a point, but no, it wouldnt take 5-10mins, it would take the same as when the referee asks its assistant..and even less because (at least with my idea of a mic) with a mic, the assistant would tell the referee what he should do... Think about it! anyways this is all up to FIFA altough some are taking theyre own actions like in Peru...

NO CHANGES!!!!!!!!!!!!
football its a human sports, so theres a huge tendency to make mistakes.
no need to change it
the other guy said that if my team loses by bad calls, well, that happened to italy in the wc, im pissed to moreno, but i want no tv in the freakin pitch!
we love the sport because of that, it makes us mad, angry, or happy. so why change it?
maybe FIFA should focuss on give referees better training or something like that.
but NO technology of football!

it wouldnt take longer. it would be just about the same, the 4th official could talk to the ref when something big happened, like a hand ball right on the goal line or some sh!t like that. or about a penalty..... it wouldnt be for every fricking thing the ref did wrong, like a foul in the middle of the pitch. just on the important stuff that can make the difference in a game

To u Juventino, might mean those emotions (for me also dude) but for others soccer is a buiss, is politics...
Plus, the emmotion of having a fair game is better than the non satisfaction of knowing ur team was defeated because this stupid mother****er in yellow thought that it wasnt a goal

yeah i know what you mean, some people think that the the team buys the ref so that they would make calls that favors that team. let them be.
for me football its passion, and those mistakes only add more passion to it. theres is absolutely no point on changing the sport

dude, how can i add those little mother****ers? (the ones flapping the flags) of course with different flags...
(one with atl madrid!! yeah!!!) :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:

I wouldn't mind having video technology, but I totally agree with claupastore's view on the topic.

We dont need video technology in football.. just some refs with bigger balls that dont be scare to blow the whistle even against the "superstars"

Also.. to the guy that said that in American Football people dont talk about referees.. you're wrong, go to any teams forum during the season and you'll see how everyone is talking about refs and mistakes..

who cares about american football, that sport is just plain boring. like someone mentioned already, if there was no controversial calls in soccer then it wouldnt be so interesting. how would it feel going to school and not talking to your friends about the last round of soccer that occured in Bundesliga, about that incredible comeback from Hannover when they almost beat Bayern, about that disallowed goal that Scholes scored against Porto, it wouldnt be very interesting believe me.
