Well, it turned out better.

Not as dramatically satisfying as the other game, but it'll do.

I better keep this winning streak going or I'm going to be pissed. I had good news and then this happens.

Well, I won two games and drew another, but I didn't rise in the table since in the replay the other teams won their games. So we ended up fucked over. Damn crash could cost us a European spot!

Edit: also on the replay we lost Park for 3 to 4 months with a broken ankle. :(

Finished the season. Not on a high note as I wanted, but the second half of the season was a lot better.

Results:

As you can see, after the embarrassing loss to relegated Union Berlin, the team didn't lose again until the last fixture. Valiant effort by the boys.

Final table:

My goal to get an Europa League spot was achieved, which is a great feat considering that during the winter break the team was sitting at 10th without a sign of getting any better. Mission accomplished!

Player stats:

I'll try to upload the game tonight, if not I'll do it tomorrow in the afternoon.

Standout players:

Don't let the stars fool you, he has been HUGE. By far the best player in the team and our captain. Consistently graded out well even when the team was struggling. He received several MoM honors, which is pretty impressive considering he's a center back. He is dangerous on corners/free kicks - getting 5 goals in the season, once again, great number for a defender. And covering from mistakes at the back. Unless his level drops I suggest to ignore the star grade and let him keep the starting job as well as the captain's armband. He deserves it.

Another very consistent and possibly underrated player. He was the most constant threat even when the team was struggling. He second in the Bundesliga in goals with 20. He is very unselfish, he can play well as a lone striker as well as paired up with another striker. He commands a big presence in the box and has the finishing touch. If it weren't for him and Hahn, I think we would be talking about what to do with the managers because I think I would have been fired.

He gets a mention mostly for staying healthy and making a good pairing with Hahn. He has a ton of potential, which I believe he has yet to live up to but has great durability. He played all league games (only came on as a sub once) and even though he is a bit error prone, he is a very good player to have as a center back. Definitely a leader in the making, and with Hahn showing him the ropes I think he will be fine.

Another constant performer who was sorely needed in the season. A quick, shifty and very fast left winger with a golden left foot that amassed 11 assists and two goals. He would have had more but at his peak he got injured and missed about two months worth of matches. Great on counters, free kicks and corners. He never really gave up his spot and after he came back from injury, he picked up right where he left off.

Good stuff.

Those 4 players were good for me too, but Avdic.

Who is next?

And are you sure you have a Europa spot, aren't there cup implications?

Yeah, I guess I should have shown the final table, but I got lazy. But we are qualified. Top 3 were for Champions League, and 4th to 6th were Europa League. I think Bayern won the DFB Pokal, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Who is in the final of the Cup matters too (maybe even Semis! Not sure). But if it shows Europa on the final table than yeah the teams got it.

I'll play. I may take longer than usual because I'm not familiar with the team and I'll be away a couple of days a few times in the next couple of weeks.

Jetzt geht's... los?

:(

This season-ending injury happened pretty late in the pre-season, it'll be hard to replace him on the transfer market. First update coming soon.

...Damn

I'm surprise Neilton has become so popular amongst you guys. I wasn't sure he would be a hit, thought he wasn't enough of a poacher for your tastes.

Juventino, now you can give the Japanese guy a try if you'd like. Depth seems thin though, but maybe you can play with 1 striker up front (That other guy, I think he's South American).

How were the finances when you took over? I noticed Skip barely spent so hopefully you reaped the rewards.

Hola! I'm in Mexico City for a pre-season friendly with Club América. The team is preparing well and enjoying fine Mexican cuisine. Team finances are flourishing and I even tell the players they can order a desert.

First, let me tell you of the players that didn't make the trip.

I had to kill a few darlings, but they were all players that seemed to have reached their potential. Getting 14M for Sjoerd Geerts is a pretty good deal, I believe. Especially if you look at whom arrived...

In defense, two fine young Croats join the ranks. Mikic could become a stronghold in defense for a decade. Pamic is a promising back brought over from the Premier League. Gava will most likely be moved to LB, with Konan moving to his natural position at the center.

In midfield, I was able to sign two very young promising Germans and an Israeli. Takis Kourkoulas grew up at Bayern and decided to have a shot at a starting spot in Bundesliga immediately instead of waiting around (mentally he's not there yet). I also liked having a few more Germans on the team. They could both become key players. With Ayala, Diaz and Zatma also on the roster we'll be set in midfield for the rest of this decade, given they fulfil their potential.

In attack, Mejic and Hoxha provide new impulses. I'm not entirely sure yet what their primary position will be, there's still a lot of options even without Neilton. Shalam was bought for depth. We should be okay. Hopefully Konan will find some of his former magic, you guys try to ruin him but I won't allow it, dammit.

Summary:

This evening I have an appointment in Mexico City with Yoyo Horatiu, manager of Monterrey and winner of Euro 2020 with the Dutch. He's currently in Mexico City to scout players for his team. I will look to steal his diary with tactical analysis and scouting reports. But first, the swimming pool.

My tactical diary is a downloaded 3-1-5-1 that's great.

The only transfer bummer for me is Pasa since I think he was at a good starter level and not much money was received but I see that the 3 replacement DM/CMs are quite good. Goorts I liked too but I see you got a lot of money for him.

But what's the point of bringing in Shalamberitze? He doesn't look any better than our AMLs, and the potential isn't anything amazing. And I'm always of the belief it's better to keep a player than replace him with a similar one - Simonovski, where a profit wasn't made. And he proved to be a reliable good performer.

I see Mejic is similar to Neilton. (Y)

Can you post a screenie of Ayala and Urunkwoski (or w/e, the young German), and the young French GK ?

edit: Mikic is a great buy. Totally my kind of transfer. I'd start him right away imo. What's his previous club history ratings like? I always look at that to see if players are good performers (while taking into consideration level of competition). Sometimes it's not indicative of their consistency or skill but it does help a bit in personal scouting. With him being that young tho it's even less indicative, or maybe non-existent/youth team only.

I will look to steal your USB stick with downloaded tactics. It's a real dark and obscure football world in Mexico City, let me tell you.

You're probably right about Shalam. I wasn't familiar with any of them so that's kind of a Succession game type transfer. I knew I was going to sell Zuniga, so it's more in place of him than Simonovski (who's naturally an AM). Shalam could still be a ''leading Bundesliga winger'' in the future, so we'll see how it goes.

Mikic has 100+ career league appearances for his former club Zeljeznicar and 4 caps for the Croatian senior NT. Not bad for a 19 year old. In my other FM13 game with Granada I bought an 18-year old Croat CB and he became the best in the world. Looking for a repeat of that here. Think I may start him indeed, see how he does.

Ayala and German dude:

yoyo913

Team Captain
Thanks.

French GK, are you thinking of starting him? You forgot that screenie. He hasn't been sold, has he? :(

Are you thinking of playing Urwantschky? And how are you looking to rotate Ayala? (ps Goddamn he was a good transfer (H) )

And wow getting Mikic at that price is really good.
