Russia should be kicked out, they cheated. They had an unfair advantage with one of there players on a banned drug.

Why Manchester United wasn't disqualified from Champions League because Rio Ferdinand was disqualified? (the same drugs situation) Yeah, the drugs were not found, but he was disqualified because of the drugs! BTW, he played for English national team before this... What about participation of team England in EURO 2004? As you said: drugs are always drugs.

that comment shows how stupid you are, that is not the same situation. Rio was banned because he missed a drug test, not because he tested positive. Manchester United should be allowed to stay in champions league and England stay in EURO!

You F*CKING IDIOT if you think so!
LOL! What for to our criminals your ****ty Canada?
All this prejudices - to such morons as you Russian associates with Russian mafia (by the way which does not exist).
I'm sure, that you do not know any Russian.
What concernes Wales-Russia matches - only Wales was cheating with the constant provocations of our players.
They even hired some prostitutes for our players, who tried hard to get into Russian player's apartments before second leg!:)))
Ïèäîðàñû êàíàäñêèå, ñîâñåì îõóåëè!!!

I think banning Russia from the competition on the account of one idiot is wrong.

Yes, Titov took drugs, but there were ten other Russians on that pitch that didn't. If Wales deserved to be in this competition they should have been able to beat Russia regardless.

Your comments have not been the work of a genius either. You were half way to making a good and valid point, but decided to yap your mouth off about the Russian mafia in a comment that had absolutely nothing of reference with the topic of this discussion and whose sole purpose was to attack the Russians on this board. In my eyes that makes you a bigger idiot than Alex, who's only crime was being misinformed.

hmm this could bee good for dinamo bucuresti, a ***ed up romanian team :) . they lost to spartak moscow, the team that titov plays for. so if russia were to be removed from the euro 2004 than spartak should be also be removed from the uefa cup.

Find new friends (or get to know other people).

I think it's fairly apparent why the good-natured Russians seem to avoid you.

I don't think Russia should be kicked out of the competition. Yes, their player cheated, and all you Russians saying that Wales were playing dirty maybe you should take a more objective critique of your own NT first, you were as dirty if not more dirty. It was a scrappy match and both teams were responsible. Now we find out that one of your players tested positive for drugs, you really were cheating more than us. :kader:

However, you won the playoff and therefore you should be in the finals and not Wales. If FIFA had a rule stating that any player testing positve for drugs should be banned immediately, then you should face heavy punishment and possible expulsion from the competition, but I don't think there is a rule like that. In which case no rules were broken.

The Welsh NT should quit whining and get on with preperations for the WC qualifiers. If we were to get in I'd feel as if we didn't deserve it and it would take away any gloss that comes from playing in a major international tournament.

As for England, they didn't play Rio after he missed the drugs test for the very reason that it could give other teams a comeback. Now we see that the FA were wrong to stop him playing, as I felt all along.

And Man Utd. We didn't break any rules.

Before comparing Titov and Rio we should bare in mind that Rio missed a test and Titov has blatently, apparently, used drugs.

Ok, lets remember that playoffs.
First leg
Welsh players played not just "dirty" - they were always provoked Russian players. Our team wasn't been ready for that kind of play - that's why Mostovoy and Ovchinnikov was banned for the 2nd leg.
In 2nd - provocations from Wales continued, but Russia answered only once - when Alexei Smertin took Savage by his throat.
Savage at the first minutes almost broke Evseev's leg.
Marat Izmailov and Dmitry Sytchev was injured for about 2 month.
Titov played not well and was substituted on 69'.

Titov didn't eat drugs by himself. It was a mistake of Spartak's young unexperienced coach.

The way I saw it the Russians were provoking us too. Remember Evseev's tackle that could've broken Giggsy's leg too? The one that Giggs reacted too? You're players were out to get Giggs as he was the perceived danger.

We all know that Savage is a wreckless player at the best of times. It's not an excuse, but I hardly think it justifies Smertin grabbing him by the throat. That sort of argument justifies Giggs' elbow.

Titov still played 69' of the game. Maybe he didn't produce much, but he still had a bearing on the outcome of the game by being on the pitch.

It was a scrappy game and your NT is as much to blame for it's discipline as we were. The ref obviously didn't think there was much wrong (in either leg) otherwise cards would've been flying around.

Titov didn't eat drugs by himself. It was a mistake of Spartak's young unexperienced coach.
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. He needs to prove it. Obviously FIFA didn't really believe it as he got 12months.

It was in FIRST leg. In the second leg Russia played almost cleanly.

Almost every Titov's pass was a pass to the defender. He was unneccesary on the pitch

He didn't. It is a proved fact.
There is no difference who made this mistake - PLAYER receives ban, anyway.

As I said, it evened itself out. You were the aggressors in the 1st leg and we were in the 2nd.

Your point being what? That he should've been allowed to play provided he only passed backwards? He still played. Maybe he passed the ball back to a defender who kicked it up the pitch for the corner/fk that Evseev scored off?

He didn't. It is a proved fact.

How was it proved? I disagree with punishing a player that was doped unknowingly, but they should be ineligable while the substance is still effecting them. I read that Spartak were fined £8k, that sounds like a tiny fine if they were doping their players. Hardly seems as if FIFA took the same stance that Titov didn't mean to take it.

Still, I definately do not think that Russia should be eliminated from the competition and, unless FIFA rules dictate that upon failing a drugs test the player involved is ineligable for selection, they should not face punishment. If the rules were broken however...

Maybe Russia was aggressors in tackles(I dont think so), but your players provoked ours with their non-sport behavior.
For example - Ovchinnikov received a yellow(2nd in competition - means ban) after Barnard shot after half time whristle.
How was it proved?
President of Russian Football Union said so.

Come one man it was clear Russia was the better side in both of the legs. We played much better in the 1st leg and had tons of chances, as for the 2nd leg we could have had 2 goals if not for the post.

Plus we are better than 2nd place in the group because we beat Switzerland 4-1 at home and drawed with them 2-2 away. So for Switzerlan to go though without playoffs and for Russia to get booted of the competition doesn't sound right to me.

It's irrelevant to argue who was better and who wasn't. Russia won, without Titov's help, yes, but his drug problem was still against the rules. Doping is very serious, mind you, and should continue to stay serious. Nobody cares about the meaningless sentimental "who's better and who isn't" sh!t. If a Welsh player were to get caught while Wales going through, we'd be the first to yell the discrimination-against-Russia card. We accuse others of trying to follow the rules (to their advantage), while with all the patriotic hysteria we're the most arrogant and self-righteous of them all. You remember the Winter Olympics, right?

Just today in the Roddick-Safin match Safin got as many as 10 (!!) extra points from the side ref. Roddick argued, of course, but didn't get anything out of it, while the first time Safin complained, he immediately got a call REVERSED for him (a right call, but nonetheless). And the American commentators were extremely classy about it. I just imagine the outcry we'd have in the Russian media if it were Roddick to get the breaks. Sport-Express would've had a field day.
