how many socreless extra times have there been? how many penalties? how many 1-0 wins in the 2nd round??

this will be another low scoring game...and with an actual defense, Zidane wont do much...

seeing you are brazilian im gonna take this with a grain of salt.

You can understand his pain, I'm sure. As for me, I'll be rooting for France for three reasons.

1. I have family in France. My uncle and his two daughters who are french because they were born there.

2. I like France's solid style of play with strong players in every position. Very well coached as well.

3. It will be the last game for one of the best players we have ever seen. I hope Zizou will retire with a glorious victory!

And if Italy hadn't beaten Germany you'd probably complain about how boring they are. Any sort of luck they had by playing Ukraine was cancelled out by being placed in one of the hardest groups and still coming out on top. Unlike France who was in the easiest and just managed to squeak by. Other than that I would agree that this side has seen some luck.

Off the top of my head, here are some examples of what I mean, from this year alone:
-De Rossi's elbow to McBride's face
-Super super blatant dive in the last minute against Australia
-Beating Germany in the last minute of overtime
-Facing Ukraine in the quarterfinals??
-A comprehensive list of the dives and fouls committed would take much too long, but it's been plain for everyone to see

Bah, what's the problem of winning games in the last minutes? Let's only play 70 minutes, they can still manage to score at the 69...

Yeah, they faced Ukraine, and?

Basically you only gave two examples that can happen with almost every single team one time or another...

I think Italy will win, but I will be supporting France just as strongly as I would support Spain. The Italians are the dirtiest, luckiest team in World Cup history and this year has been no exception. The only redeeming quality this year is that they haven't lived by the catenaccio.

De Rossi's foul was dirty and he served plenty of time for that incident, what's the problem there?

Dive or not, Italy were the better team that game and deserve the victory. I bet you Ronaldinho has dived before, but I guess that's ok, it happens man...

Beating Germany, the host nation in the final minute of overtime, avoiding the PK's (Which they have never won in a world cup) is an issue for you? If anything that's a significant accomplishment and a memory I will never forget.

Ukraine isn't an easy opponent but it was the easiest team you could get in the quarter finals? Yes! But sometimes the luck of the draw is in ones favor and we took advantage of it. It's not like we also didn't play well that game, we won 3-0 in a quarter finals matchup when every other round of 16 match was won by one goal in regulation/shootouts...

Lets not forget to mention the difficult group stage we encounter and came through without a loss. Italy deserve to be in the finals as they have shined in every area of the field. They are the most complete team in the WC along side the French = the justified finals of Germany 2006!

De Rossi might start (Y)(Y) :D

Really, where? Even if Gattusso lost an arm he would play... The only area I could see him POSSIBLY starting is on the outside for Camo/Perrotta, but can he play the outside?

yea they say he might play for camoranesi as he didn't play that well in the last match....
nothing wrong with that i suppose if lippi trusts him to fill camo's role then i can definitely trust him.

sevillista its not a crime to win matches late and as someone said before you would have criticized italy if they did not try to score.
don't pry down other teams cus yours failed to perform, that's just not cool.
and plus everybody knows you need a cosiderable amount of luck to win a K.O. tounament espescially nowadays when the game is getting more tactical.

I'll support France. I like Henry, and i would love to see Zidane retiring with a WC win. A brilliant player and also a good character, the man deserves it.

I had dinner with Zidane not too long ago and upon parting for our separate ways, he laid this bit of geniusness on me........an aphorism of sorts to live by as an honest man.

"Son, if I can call you that. It's better to shave off, than it is to bald and comb-over-away."

How does one reply to such a deep and lyrical statement? Well, I just grinned knowingly and gave 'em my newly adopted fonzarelli thumps up and walked off into the night.

well our biggest sports newspaper L'equipe had a really good article where they pointed out all the strengths of the azzurri line by line :$ .

it was a good read, very clean very respectful, it made me realize that Italy is definetly the better team on paper.

the best of luck to your team, this game is gonna make me sad whatever happens if we lose well obvious reason, but if we win it means the end of a generation that allowed us to dream!.

i can't say it enough ever since 96 this generation has given us everything they had, and i cannot be more proud of our team for reaching a stage that many (me included) thought unreachable a month ago.

Imo Camoranesi sucked against germany and was lazy as hell... in the final you really can't afford a lazy player... Perotta isn't much of a scorer so it would be great to finally see Del Piero atleast replacing him in the second half/
