Iran blew it. They had everything to score a 2nd goal starting the 2nd. half. If the GK didn't f*cked it giving away the ball like that, probably the match would finished 1-1.

Huge respect for Oswaldo Sanchez for playing after his loss.
Ditto. That must've taken a lot of strength and character from him, to inspire his side as he did. Also I thought it was a great gesture when the Iranian keeper handed Sanchez that flower.

Check out Oswaldo's super save.....

Here is the evidence of what I stated in my earlier post: Actually, Oswaldo hesitated in going out for the ball and then he blocked the Iranians header but unfortunately one of Iran's players was able to kick the rebound towards the goal....

You can even see the Iran player who scored the goal in the background....

I must say, the teams did look pretty even on the first half, but it was just an illusion, Mexico had no midfield then.

Iran showed alot of inexperience in many plays, and their physical game was the only thing that got them trought Mexico's defence. I thought they would be able to test oswaldo more, but their playmakers were just non-existent.

The subs brought exactly what I expected, Mexico's real football.
Lavolpe was too cautious for the first half, Pardo had no-one to back him at all, and Torrado was always out of position, this lead to alot of open runs by Iran.
I really hope, he can just get over this fear, and we see a more offensive line-up for the next match.

Though, the team was a bit slower than usual, it did a great game, no doubt, very intelligent tactics, specially without our two "star" forwards toward the end.

Both Bravo and Sinha just earned themselves their place on the starting line-up.
Both deserve the M-O-T-M title.

Good luck to Iran in their next games, they did tried hard, and also showed class. (Y)

Must... refrain... from making... politically incorrect... joke... :(

Anyway good win by Mexico. You guys have more foreigners on your team that we do. :p

Entertaining, match, it was pretty even until the second half, i guess Iran was fine with the draw but they paid by their lack of will to win the match, and eventually 2 errors in a clearance costed them the match. Good win for Mexico.

This was a really great tense game. My favorite game alongside the opener. I really think LaVolpe should start Sinha (#7) next game as he had a great game. I'm really happy for him since a lot of Mexicans thought he was just a burden becomes of his so-so performances during the friendlies. Big win for my team since more than three points were being disputed b/c of Sanchez's loss. I hope that Mexico starts playing like they did the last 20 minutes of the game and that Borgetti is just out for 1 game. Also major props to Iran, and now I want them to beat Portugal b/c since alot of people are saying that Portugal will beat Iran.
