you guys are reacting like England lost to the Solomon Islands, or whatever. I don't see any shame in losing to Germany, and as it was said here, they took a lot of unnecessary risks being 2-1 down.

A 4-1 loss to your bitter rivals in the world cup is pathetic. Any Argentina fan, any Brazilian fan would agree that it would be an embarrasing loss, almost rather lose to Solomon Islands...

Anyway, the England players aren't crap as individuals. As a team though, they have been terrible. England needs to boot some underperformers, something they should have done ages ago, Lamps and Gerrard have never played well together, but the coaches continue to try it. They need new players, maybe some less talented, but would gell alot better as a team.

Look at Germany, you look at their squad, and in individual talent they are far behind England. As a team they showed they are miles ahead of them...

It's not like the English overwhelm Germany as far as talent goes. Ashley Cole and Philip Lahm are probably about even (and are probably the best players on their team, but no one will ever admit that), Ozil and Lamps are probably even, but bring much different things to the table. Podolski might not be as good as Gerrard, but as far as a left winger goes I'd say they're at least comparable. Muller is not as talented with the ball as Milner, but as far as EVERYTHING ELSE I have to say Muller is making a real case for being a phenom. Rooney is clearly better than Klose, but Schweinsteiger is clearly better than Barry. And of course Germany has an extra man in the midfield which swings the balance to them.

I would like you to give some examples for the far better individual talents.....Rooney? Ok. Gerrard? Hmm...Lampard? Maybe. What about the other 8 men?

There's no shame in losing to the Germans, but the blowout following the terrible group stage performances adds up to a pathetic World Cup.

Game hasn't even started and I'm already pissed off. Bofo Bautista is starting. Really? That's a sub ready to be used already. On the plus side, Guardado is starting, but I'm not crazy about Efrain Juarez playing at RB; he likes to attack but doesn't track back...

The Von Trapps
I didn't like Maradona's non-selection of Pupi Zanetti and Cuchu Cambiasso in the squad, and thus included him in the thread I made to criticize certain coaches and their WC squad selections ... but as much as I am still unhappy with those 2 major exclusions, I have been impressed with Maradona's ability to bring a real team chemistry to his side ...

he single-handedly (hah) won the World Cup for Argentina in 1986, and that had much to do with his ability to be a leader, and get his teammates to play for him ... he has been able to bring a similar affect as a coach with this side ... they seem to be enjoying their football ...

I may be hoping for a Mexican upset today, but I won't complain about watching an Argentinian victory if their stacked attack plays to entertain today ...

EDIT: blue short and blue socks with the home shirt? they look like Málaga ...

Gimme a break. Way to use a single example from what, 4 years ago to make a point.

European refs aren't perfect, but the level of officiating in UEFA is head and shoulders above these idiots. Trust me, I watch enough CONCACAF games to know that ridiculous calls and cards given out are not isolated incidents.

I agree European referees are better than those of Africa & Latin america, but that doesn't mean African, & Latin american referees are all bad because of the mistakes some of them did. All referees make mistakes.

Great game so far, Mexico missed 3 chances to score, that's a lot if you want to beat Argentina, better score soon before Argentina score in any chance they got.

1-0 Argentina, the game is over.

Another bad refferi call, steals the game for Argentina, Tevez was in offside by far, it was so clear, c'mon! how can't see that! Ah, ok, i remember, it's Argentina, must go to next round. Same kind of steal will take place in Brazil vs Chile.
