England couldn't establish themselves enough to close the deal, in the second half. The Americans always had that last desperate header in the tank to allow them to clear crosses/block shots inside their own box. Capello will have to try Defoe and Rooney for the next game.
As for the US, Buddle should start the next game along with Altidore.

Heskey is a strong player, but I just don't understand why Capello doesn't want to use Defoe's quickness. Wright-Phillips can't play on the left and Rooney just doesn't get the right service. England underperforms again, not surprised at all really, as I mentioned in the other thread, USA is the darkhorse.

Looked like Gerrard and Lampard were playing pretty far back aswell. Rooney's wish should be granted by playing him as a lone striker, Gerrard and Lampard directly behind him (Gerrard closer to the wings), and then some other midfielders. But those wingers Wright-Phillips and Lennon... Man, they were awful.

Enyeama had the hopes and prayers of every FM player in the world behind him. It's really no wonder he was excellent today.
The start of the game was cool i was liking, but the 2nd half was kinda useless. To many missed passes, missed shots, confuse game. The only good thing was Altidore's play to Green defence. It was disappointing, i expected more. Korea vs Greece was better to me, and Argentina vs Nigeria too.

To think that Capello got paid 10 million euro's to come up with this failure...
Great result, be we could certainly do better than that. Major gaps defensively at times, and in the second half we (inexplicably) gave up on the idea of playing soccer. It worked today, but only because England couldn't put away their chances.
Positives:
1. Tight marking on Rooney rendered him nearly irrelevant
2. Some good build-up play in the first half as we didn't seem fazed by conceding so early
3. Altidore's individual effort in the second half
4. Tim Howard.
5. Did a reasonably good job defending set pieces/crosses into he area, where England are strong
6. Steve Cherundolo, for my money our best field player today. Doesn't get enough respect.
Causes for concern:
1. Poor defensive organization.
2. Poor reaction speed by our defenders; it takes them an eternity to adjust after a player steps out of position
3. An alarming general lack of pace and fitness.
4. Couldn't string two passes together in the second half.
5. Ricardo Clark. Mostly useless. Usually he's the pitbull-type midfielder who chases a lot, gets stuck in and wins the ball. He didn't do that today. He did not look fit, and he didn't make one good pass all game. He also failed to track Gerard on the opening goal. Bradley was, sadly, not much better. We badly need someone like Torres in the next two games so we can keep possession.

It was boring to me as well but not as boring as the France game. Greece Vs S. Korea was the best so far. I'll be rooting for Serbia tomorrow against Ghana.
Failure? WTF. He only drew 1 game, how can that be a failure? He gotta play Algeria and Slovenia which are far less tough games.

It's a shame that possible second one hit the post. Our defense was shaky, and one of the things that had me worried throughout the game. A good result though and from my standpoint, a good game.

Like i said it was mostly boring because of the 2nd half that it was resumed by a sequence of long failed passes from both sides, desconcentration in shooting and passing, the 2 teams didnt made a play that i could say "Great!", Of course that was some interesting plays like i said ( Altirode and some minor ones ) but in a geral mode it was boring. I did expect more of this game, this perfomance to me from the teams that played was bad. But if i have to congratulate someone its USA.
