Ball possesion:
Argentina 65 %
German 35 %

Despite the possession Argentina didn't have any clear goal chances, they need Riquelme to create the plays but he is very well marked by the Germans.

Tevez (Y)

and people are saying how boring the italy-ukraine game is going to be. this game has produced next to nothing in terms of chances or any sort of offence.

but in all fairness, to both sides, i expect nothing less. this is the quarterfinals of the fifa world cup, you just don't want to take a chance that will end your dream.

i'm praying for a goal in the second to blow this thing wide open.

Damn Ballack missed a sitter and that was the only chance in the first half. We have to stop playing those long balls to Klose, Heinze and Ayala are too good in the air. Podolski needs to be subbed or he'll get a red pretty soon.

Tevez was started alongside Crespo to help create problems for the 2 German central defenders, and he's probably been the hardest working player on the field launching attacks and then running back to defend. Riquelme and both the Argentinan strikers are heavily marked by the German defence and haven't been able to do much going upfront.
The Germans have played some quality football at times but they're finding it hard to create many chances with so many Argentians falling back and packing their half. They've also occasionally utelized their height advantage pretty well, and will need exploit that some more in the 2nd half. Apart from that the only way i can see the deadlock being broken is through an error from either of the defences or a touch of genius, like with the Maxi goal in the Mexico game.
