Should be a good match despite what some may say, England-Portugal matches are always good one's (even the friendly matches in the past decade or so have been entertaining). I'm willing to bet there will be no discipline problems other than a few typical cards. England have been unimpressive so far, but we all know and respect the fact that they have a lot of quality. Sooner or later their key players will click and they'll have a great game (hopefully not on Saturday)...the same can be said for us, Pauleta, C. Ronaldo, even Simao, have been relativly quiet but their potential to be explosive is there too. We'll have to see..

There are better teams in the competition than Portugal, we should really win this. It would be awful to go out in the quarter finals. I just hope the team clicks at the right time.

I just think that is a really dumb move by Fifa right there. Do Fifa live in a bubble or what. Or have these guys been given the game for a reason? Of course you would hope that they will be fair and unbiased in every way, but I cant help feeling that they wont be. I hope to God I am wrong.

We have been truly awful so far, i'm amazed that we have got through to the Quarters playing this way. No passion, no passing, 40+ long-balls from the defence p/game, it's just awful. Gerrard and Lampard scored 40 goals between them last season so you can never right any team off that features them. Some say they cant play together but i'd prefer to have them both on the pitch rather than one of them.
If we can get the ball down and use our midfiled then we will steam roll Portugal.
If we bypass our defence and hit hopeless balls up to Rooney then we wont win.

Klear....have no fear.....This will be the game where at last, we will begin to click. Rooney is fighting fit for the first time this tournament, and is raring to go. Gaz Neville is back so apart from some awesome defending, we now have the overlapping wing back on the right that we have been sorely missing, and that our right side was built around. Nev is also fit for the first time this tournament too.
Listening to the players speaking today, it was clear that they are determined to put everything right and shut the doubters back home up for good. The buzz they are conveying, from Rooney and Nev firing on all cylinders, was obvious to see. So far its been makeshift formations, makeshift first 11 and makeshift tactics. This time we can go out and play the way we were meant to play in this World Cup.
We know what the boys CAN do when everything is in place, and although we will still be playing with one striker, its time for England to do the business. I have no doubt about the performance on Saturday at all. I do have concerns regarding the officials though. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed on that score. I'm probably just being paranoid about that and I'm probably doing the ref and his assistants an injustice. As long as we dont have any legitimate goals disallowed I should be able to live with the outcome.

Anyway i predict that Portugal to win 2-0, i also predict a lot complains towards Elizondo calls from the english players, regardless being correct or not, which may end with many bookings for them and the day after a lot of bominb from the english media.:boohoo:
