yes gameplay needs to be improved ..... but , i am not trying to support EA or like that ,but i think EA has the capability of making the best footy games but for the time they are concentrating on the graphics and stuff. i think EA is slowly but steadily improving the gameplay ....

there are a few things I miss very much in FIFA 2002 and hope to see in FIFA 2003:
1/ Dutch League
2/ Portuguese League
3/ More teams in "Rest Of World" - as in FIFA 99 - there were lots of ROW teams
4/ The ability to create new players/teams/leagues without any limitation
5/ The ability to edit the FCDB files with an original EA editor
6/ higher resolution of kits - it would be at least the same as 2GK kits - hjfr+hjbx 256x256 pixels
There is also one thing I hope EA will never add to the game: Czech League - if they did so, I would completely loose my interrest in making patches. Making the Czech League for FIFA is my job

I think that there has been lot of suggestions posted in this thread for fifa 2003 and i think that EA fulfil half only of this wishes thaen i could tell that they have done good job.Well ypx you told this thread will go to ea I want to ask that how &who will give it to EA.

Well, you can always make the Czech Second Division or lower divisions, or make better kits, make better stadiums.....see there's still a lot to keep you occupied!
Sorry if no one else agrees with me.. But I doubt EA would come out with monthly roster updates let alone weekly updates... If EA has to do something after the game is released they wont....

Madden as u'll know is one of the most popular American football, and in this game they have "FRANCHISE MODE"
where you choose your team and you can play with that same team for over 30 years(or seasons). thats cool but there is more.
your players get better after each season. (for example..... let's say you have a player who has 90 in speed , well at the end of the season that player can gain speed(IF YOU PRACTISE ENOUGH) and things like that...
it's very cool , you can also sing players, you offer contracts for example u offer a 10 million dollar contract, the player wount' refuse. u also choose the length of the contract.
when the contract is over you can re-sing that same player (ofcourse you gotta pay more money)

i belive it is impossible to make a game so detailed and deep like nhl, nba and madden 2002 and at the same time add over 20 national leagues and over 50 national teams... thats over 5000+ players to develop. it will be near impossible, if EA achieve it will be ONE BIG GAME, over 2 gigs or something.. just exagerrating.
i think the fifa series will only improve cosmetically, the flawed gameplay and bugs will be with us for quite a while.

Franchise is not important right now... training model, more stadiums, realism and better gameplay, and an EA editor that edits the FCDB files are the most important things.... if I got the training mode and the EA FCDB editor then i would be happy, but even more happy if they added the better gameplay and more realism factor and the more stadiums...
Better Gameplay 2 me is: more injuries, more AI fouls, more AI aggressiveness, their isn't a huge gap between gameplay levels (Amateur and Pro for example), better offside calls, AI makes substitutions and changes strategy during game, a better trading system, when players are fouled they react to the way they were fouled, and better rosters with a 40 player limit(32 is just 2 small for the editors), and ofcourse the necessary graphic tweaks such as make the bench look realistic, make players start 2 warm up on the sidelines, add the bench into goal celebrations, bigger fields, better and more faces, add more big flags into the crowd because those were awesome!, more flags, more confetti, and I like those color coordinated crowds that show support for their teams, and also more hair, face, facial hair types to choose from in the new EA FCDB editor. Add the short dreadlocks hair style like Kanu and also add the hairspike hair like Hedmant he Swede keeper. Add the possibility to import new faces, flags, faces in the new EA FCDB editor... if the game had all these in them and cost a little more, i would buy it... please EA, do somethings, tons of peeps are losing interest and faith in u

As others said, AI, but what I would like to see are the same type of attributes as in FIFA 98 RTWC. Those were great attributes with agility, acceleration, aggression, experience, skill, etc. Rating from 1 to 7 is dumb in my point of view. I want to be able to see some clear distictions between the skills of certain players.
The other stuff people said i agree are cosmetic, but it does spice up the game. More stadiums would be good.
Maybe also the addition of a manager. With this i am saying that the quality of manager (meaning having some attributes) can determine the quality of gameplay by a team, so here they can be traded or signed between teams.
Just to add: you could have a team with a young or inexperience manager who develops through the season. So the top managers would be like Alex Ferguson, Fabio Capello, Asene Wenger, Gerard Houllier, Sven Goran Ericksson, maybe Louis van Gaal for Barcelona cause he'll do good, Bayern Munich's manager (cant remember his name).
So if a manager was traded, it may have a huge affect on the team he is joining and leaving. Ex. Martin O'Neill of he leaves Celtic (better not though).

Even at amateur level, it's typically impossible to get the intended ball receiver to jostle for position with the defensive player. He just stands behind the defensive player, who promptly heads the ball away. You can click all you want; he'll keep standing there like a wounded duck, with no intention of going for the ball.
3b. Quicker recovery time. There's too much of a delay after certain moves -- tackles, shots, etc. In real life, players don't stay on the ground for several seconds after they attempt a slide tackle. Nor do they stand immobilized after attempting a single shot, unable to quickly follow up. The situation gets REALLY frustrating on defense, where if you're beaten to a header, your player stands there or falls to the ground, paralyzed for several seconds while your opponent charges to the goal.
3c. Let us take those same kind of sliding shots the AI constantly scores with. Or at least put some instructions in the freakin manual on how it's done.
3d. Let the AI foul me, dang it! Injure me, maim me, take out my legs!
3e. Get rid of the bug that makes my player -- and even occasionally the CPU -- run a ball over a touchline or endline without me doing anything but chasing it. How many of us have scored own goals because we made our defensive player sprint toward a loose ball? And the countless corner kicks this has caused...
4. Better and More Detailed Statistics. During season play, it would be nice to see more than just accumulated goals and cards. Running tallies of shots on goal, goalkeeper saves, etc., would be appreciated.
5. Reasonable Statistics. During season play, it's always weird to have two or three players on my team leading the league with 30+ goals apiece, with the league's next best goalscorer down at 5 or what have you. I've yet to have any decent competition for seasonal scoring champ.
6. Make the Possession Statistic More Accurate. Maybe I'm just a bad judge, but I swear I've played countless matches where I've completely dominated possession, only to get to game's end and see that EA has decided I held the ball for just 32% of the time. It drives me nuts.

The main thing should be. ALL European leagues. Unterstand? No, not that ammount, I said ALL European leagues. This is because we want more realistic European Cups, not like in previous versions. Every season Champion's League should gather CHAMPIONS, of every euro league in the game. The same thing with UEFA Cup.
And EA, look at the Sensible World of Soccer game. There are unbelievable ammount of teams, 43 European leagues, and a lot of world ones. And now the SWOS is the best game in the world. But if FIFA will make MORE and MORE teams, it can become the best football game ever created.
