yeah, the disk should spin.

move the spinner with your finger - spins, right? should spin when the disk is in as well.

make sure the magnet attaches to the spinner when the lid is closed.

ARE YOU SURE YOU DIDN'T DAMAGE THE RESET/EJECT CABLE (SILVER, LONG)?

Because I don't see why your ps2 shouldn't be workin..

well I have power with the Green button....but cannot eject with the blue...no spinning...no laser..silver tag looks good...machine, though an origal model is in ideal shape...just played today..never a prob....
???
The magnet was attached to the top white plastic piece...I took it off and inserted it over the spinner...correct? still no spinning or laser....****!

the magnet should be inside the white plastic thing.

how are you bootin your games?

put the system into standby (red light), insert a game, close the lid with the plastic thing in it and press reset (green light should come on).

=============================================

If that doesn't work:

take the cover off or lift it so that the silver cable is loose and there's nothing blockin the tray.

put a disk on the spinner and put the white thing on top of it, magnet down.

does it play now? does the tray open now?

if the answers are no - most likely the silver cable is damaged.

Here:

The magnet should be in the white cap and the white cap should be in the lid.

Like on the pic.

Yeah, there's 2 magnets.

One in the spinner piece the other one in the white plastic.

they attach to each other when the lid is closed so that the disk doesn't fly off of the spinner.

Well mikey, I'm out. I have to wake up early tomorrow.

Go over the install instructions on page 1 again and in your head try to think of any things you might've done wrong, etc.

Don't play with laser and don't touch any parts not mentioned in the guide.

We'll figure it out tomorrow.

ok, found the thread, many thanks to Mayor for burying the info, giving it a vague headline and then not moving my question into the proper thread after locking up my post. ;)

Anyway, here goes again:

So, my fliptop is installed yet the system ain't reading my games -- haven't tried any imports just regular WE7:I, for example. I get the old browser screen.

There's some spinning of the disk, the console's trying to read it, but it seems erratic and is ultimately unsuccessful.

My reset button and eject tray are working therefore I assume the silver band hasn't been damaged. Could that nonetheless affect the proper spinning of the disk?

Any advice on where to start trouble shooting?

Thanks.

when you close the lid, do the magnet that sits in the fliptop attatch to the spinner?

that's the problem, I've just discovered. when I apply pressure to the flip top, pressing down, everything's fine, games load. when I let go, things get noisy

So somethings up with magnet and/or the flip top's not providing enough pressure to keep the game pinned down

I spent half of day trying to reorganize stickies and writing new with index of all important threads and named it with big letters "READ BEFORE YOU POST" and you posted new thread without even looking there ;/

but it's ok, I forgive you ;) next time I'll merge new thread with current one (Y)

well bro, the best you can do is put a book on that shlt. that'll do it.

it's a common problem, completely harmless.

right now I literally have a brick on that biatch -- unfortunately a book wouldn't provide the pressure needed. Situation sucks, actually, but you gotta do what you gotta do to play WE8.

Thanks for the feedback.
